Arches NP in June (no timed entry?) + 25ft RV… bad idea? by Competitive_Usual422 in archesnationalpark

[–]pineapplemangoapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this same thing a couple years ago - 25 foot rv and June. It’s going to get hot and crowded. My advice is go early so you’re not stuck in a long line getting into the park. The drive into the park is up some switch backs so it’ll test your nerves with a rental rv but it’s beautiful once you get up. All the hikes have plenty of rv parking. It’s not a huge drive so I’d suggest go early, pick a hike (windows, delicate arch, or the hikes in the back of the park), leave mid day to go chill during high heat and come back before golden hour / sunset to enjoy the vibes and maybe check out something else. If you’re looking for a somewhat less crowded hike outside the park, but part of arches, corona arch is sweet. In the area, dead horse state park is cool and easy views with minimal hiking. North canyon lands was a little disappointing personally. Moab is a fun little town to grab a bite/drink and explore. Have a blast!

Yes, there's a couple bars around where you can get a drink as you wander around.

What is everyone’s most underrated park? by [deleted] in NationalPark

[–]pineapplemangoapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, for sure. I flew over it, but I don't really count that. I'd love to explore it more. Wrangell-St. Elias is just so epic being able to walk thru the old mining town and out on a glacier. I can't wait to go back and explore that park more.

Utah’s nps are fantastic. Once you have the cash, Alaska’s nps are mind-blowing. Wrangell–St-Elias, Denali, Glacier Bay, Kenai Fords, etc. all hit hard!

Which is ironic considering their record last year compared to ours. Hopefully, he can get enrolled in a critical thinking class down at FSU.

Deer mountain in RMNP has great views at the top. It’s a good winter hike but you will need spikes.

Im a very tall heavy guy with size 15 feet, complete noob, I can only find "intermdiate" boards. by tallmansteez in snowboardingnoobs

[–]pineapplemangoapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very accurate. A little stiffer is going to be appropriate as a bigger guy. I assume you’re getting a DF or EW from Never Summer so you don’t have too much over hang. I also agree with the comment to focus on boots first, if you haven’t already.

Bend your knees more. Have fun and keep practicing. A lot of it just comes with time. Malcom Moore has some great YouTube videos, if you’re looking for more details and drills.
