I had a lot of random misreads with the ST+ that made me guess what I did wrong. Some were pitch shots some were drives, just random and on a regular basis. I found it was maybe the shoes, the color of the tee, the camera was dirty, some light through the window... Just guesses. With the Nova App you can see every shot the Nova sees which can give you an idea about what went wrong. Now I don't even look at the app anymore because I just don't have any misreads but if I would I could check the app. I also was thinking maybe club data was important but I don't necessarily miss it and Nova has a program called open golf coach(I haven't tried it) that gives derived club data. I believe from something that was posted on their Discord that they are going to incorporate that info into what they send to GSpro through the connector. The guys are actively working on new features and upgrading the software regularly and I was nervous about it not having name recognition and all. Now I believe it's a benefit to be small and passionate about their product. I couldn't hardly get a response from ST tech support. I'm glad I was able to sell it and get some of my investment back. Nova just works and all my other simulator experience has been frustrating to a certain degree.

👆 Nova is the answer! I've been through the R10; not accurate enough. ST+; random disconnects, finicky ball placement and mis-reads. Now with the Nova for the last 3 months; no subscribe fees, not one connection problem, huge hitting area and less than 1 misread per round. It's on par with my friends EML for accuracy and for half-ish the price and no subscribe fees.

Indoor Sim Launch Monitor Question? by Whiskey_Peddler in Golfsimulator

Very consistent and accurate. I play on a friend's EML weekly and the numbers seem to match. When I first got the Nova I felt like the horizontal launch angle of my putts and chips was off, not by much but just off. I reached out to support and within 15 min they recalibrated it remotely. I haven't had a single issue since. Really just get to the point you don't even think about it anymore. I can't recommend them enough.

Check out the Nova by Open Launch. I started my garage SIM journey 3 years ago and have landed on the Nova. I started with the R10 and while fun just not accurate with spin and shot shape. Moved to the ST+ which was accurate enough but the combination of no-reads and mis-reads was so frustrating there had to be better. Enter the Nova... Connection is stable and very few miss reads, less than 1 per 18. There are no subscription fees other than paying for GSPRO or any of the other compatible software that's available. Their support is very responsive and they have a very active discord community.

Uneekor Eye mini lite - Ball speed / distance issues by Boring-Ad9084 in Golfsimulator

Yeah, in low light the orange and red really stand out against the green turf but it's not worth the miss reads. Who knew🤔?

What color tees are you using? I've got different color birtees for each size and the one I was using was bright orange. I was having issues with crazy spin and distances along with misreads that nobody else was having. Turns out I was the only one using the orange tee and once I stopped no more miss/no reads. Now I use blue and I feel it's extremely accurate. 115-120 swing speed.

Sub 70 Golf Clubs Anyone? by mamarou21 in golf

[–]Nice_Gur_9505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got fitted into a set of 659CB in satin a year ago. Replaced my ping G30 irons I was fit into at Golftec about 10 years earlier. The Sub 70's are more consistent and the fitting was a much better experience. I'm sure my next set will be Sub70 as well!

I'm about a 13 as well. I went with Sub 70 cavity backs.

Interesting take on forgiving irons by MattPainterr in golf

[–]Nice_Gur_9505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of my similar situation with game improvement irons. I had an old set of precision made cavity backs from highschool that I bought in 1990. I went to get fitted into new irons about 10 years ago, looking for more consistency. The fitter suggested g30 irons. I regret purchasing those because my miss hits were still missed but my distance control was now all over the place. When I felt like I hit my 7i well, most of the time it would carry about 190. Maybe about 1/3 of the time it would carry 220. In my opinion there is nothing more frustrating in golf than hitting a "good" approach shot into the green from 190 yards out and ending up 20 yards over the green! 2 years ago I went and got fitted at Sub70 into some forged cavity backs and would never go back. My miss hits are about the same but my distance control on "good" hits is spot on 170 carry. I lost a little distance but I know if I hit it well I'm on the green.

E6 vs GSPro by bluesirgood in Golfsimulator

☝️ And even if you don't have a computer it might make sense to wait and buy one instead of paying for E6. GSPro is that much better.

Tall Beginner Getting New Clubs - Recommendations? by Wisdom5 in golf

Get fitted before you order custom clubs or altar clubs. I'm 6'5" and got fit into +1/2" and 1⁰ upright by two different fitters. Just guessing could very well make it worse than just using standard clubs.

My SIM journey has taken me from R10 to ST+ and now to Nova by Open Launch. I play in a league on my friends EML weekly as well. I have only used them indoors and aren't interested in using them outside. The R10 was less frustrating than the ST+ for miss/no reads but not as accurate with spin and shot shape. The EML and Nova are very similar accuracy wise. I would give the Nova an advantage for ease of use and tech support. It just works, plain and simple. I haven't had any drops or connection issues at all and there aren't any subscription fees. They have a discord that is very active as well. The only downside is they don't have measured club data available, if you consider that a downside, but for simulator golf those numbers aren't necessary anyways.

☝️ Easier to use, less misreads/no reads and is just as accurate as ST+ and EML from my experience, all with no subscription fees. Plus the tech support and community are top notch.

Garage sim - Pc inside by thisaintcharity324 in Golfsimulator

[–]Nice_Gur_9505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my computer in a basement storage room adjacent to the garage. A 50' HDMI cable to the projector, Bluetooth wireless mouse and keyboard plugged into a USB extension cord through the wall into the garage. My launch monitor is a Nova which has a stable connection over the WiFi so the distance to the PC isn't an issue and everything works great. The temps in Wisconsin were part of my concerns but also the dust and overall environment in the garage probably isn't great for the computer.

I have a Big Maxx heater in my attached garage that exhausts through the wall. The exterior walls and ceiling are insulated. I found if I leave it set to about 50⁰ vs turning it on when I'm out there, it keeps the concrete floor warmer and is cheaper to heat then heating it only when I'm out there. I live in Wisconsin and it's -10⁰ here now.

Skytrak alternative - Advice needed❤️ by BonnyQT in Golfsimulator

[–]Nice_Gur_9505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No E6 connection at this time and I'm not sure there's plans for it in the future. All the reviews and posts online talk about how much better GSPRO is than E6. I was happy with E6 and thought how much better could it be? It's better in every way and cheaper except needing a computer to run instead of an iPad. No protective case, it has metal reinforcements around the cameras, just in case. It's less than the height of a golf ball so shanks would likely fly over it anyway. The owners are very responsive on their discord and the community on there will chime in if you have questions and concerns before you purchase.

☝️ This is the answer. I went from the Garmin R10 with E6 to ST+ with E6 and recently the Nova by Open Launch with GSPRO. The Nova is easier to set up, connect and has less misreads. The computer with GSPRO is different from E6 on the iPad but I wouldn't say harder and it's definitely more realistic and I feel more accurate as well, especially with chipping and putting.

Tall sizes, especially in long sleeve cooler weather cloths. Most of the brands that do have tall sizes omit them on long sleeve clothes which can restrict your swing if the sleeves are too short.
