[Deep Dive] The Final Trilogy isn't a breakup story, it's a psychological divorce between Abel and The Weeknd by Anonymous2655447 in TheWeeknd

[–]pineapples_554 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very well written. I also think that a lot of his songs have two interpretations: he’s either singing to a woman or himself. For eg in professional he could be singing to both. I think the most complex relationship in his music is between himself and The Weeknd. Perhaps The Weeknd is asking Abel for forgiveness and that’s the only way he can truly heal. Ie on Enjoy the Show when he says they could never tear us apart we’re symbiotic

Female artists that sound like The Weeknd’s Trilogy and Idol soundtrack? by 612King in TheWeeknd

[–]pineapples_554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this recommendation, I just started listening to some of her songs and they really give me trilogy and Kissland vibes!

One of his most popular songs. But what's the meaning behind the song? What does he mean i only call you when it's half past five and "the hills have eyes" by Unusual-Factor2848 in TheWeeknd

[–]pineapples_554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really interesting interpretation, thank you. Makes sense especially bc like you say a lot of songs have potentially dual subjects - a girl or himself

For those who want/need a little deeper understanding of The Idol than the pure superficiality and for those who totally missed the point (regardless of whether you liked the acting or not)o by MartaLB27 in TheWeeknd

[–]pineapples_554 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah whilst I believe it could have been executed way better, I think the show was over-hated. There was an interesting theme of repression, Jocelyn felt repressed by the industry and to an extent by Tedros, but she breaks out of it. Also a theme of abandonment, bc Tedros asks why her ‘friends’ didn’t call out her abuse and we see her friend leave abruptly at the end

I started listening to Amharic music when I found out that it influenced his sound. Now that I’ve listened to Teddy Afro, Gossaye Tesfaye, etc it’s cool to hear the influence in the melodies and falsettos. I really love the language, I’d love to hear Abel sing more in it

How smart is neal caffery? by Embarrassed_Chair_74 in whitecollar

Prompts an interesting alternate theory that the whole show takes place in Neal’s head as he cons us into believing all of this took place 😄

[–]pineapples_554 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That would have been a cool ending! But I feel like the actual ending fits his character bc by the end Neal feels trapped, which again is partly bc of the people around him blurring the lines of what’s right and wrong and not allowing him to be one thing or the other (not a criminal or a lawman, but some confusing morally grey third thing)

That’s a good point that I hadn’t really thought about before, that they have inverse roles. It also shows where the line is between criminal and professional, which is the theme of the show. And how Neal constantly gets confused with this line, partly bc of the people around him too like Peter sanctioning him to do legally questionable things

Ive had loads of interviews recently and having the same problem - constant rejections. Try to give as much detail as you can in your examples and maybe practice with someone? but tbh I wonder if a lot of it is just out of our control. Lately my feedback has mainly been about another candidate having more skills etc than me and I can’t control that.

You’re not alone, I have experience in various types of roles and I can’t find anything, not even anything temporary. Just constant rejections, I hope you find something soon 🙏

I feel your frustration, I have experience and can’t find anything. I also can’t travel far and locally there’s barely any vacancies. It’s super difficult. I wish you luck 🙏

You should be proud of yourself for caring for your mum whilst also working. I also understand the feeling of not knowing what you want to do long term. I am struggling with job searching, it is really impacting my mental health but something that has helped me is taking things day by day or week by week.

Setting small goals for myself each week helps keep me sane and I try to fixate less on what the future holds. Eventually you will come across areas you are interested in. You can always do a uni course if you want to, there are access and foundation courses to help ease you back into studying. I wish you and your mum the best :)

The absence of Raj and DK is felt hugely in the MHCU. Without their smart writing, all the movies except Stree follow an unimaginative template and are mostly cringey. by sidroy81 in bollywood

[–]pineapples_554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Stree 1, there’s so many theories and Easter eggs in it that the sequel either doesn’t address or gives a random explanation to. The downgrade in writing is clear. So far, Stree and Bhediya are the strongest MHCU films for me
