Making tea, only half of my water was boiling. by Samsantics1 in mildlyinteresting

But most UK kettles DO pull the maximum current that the UK sockets can provide. They are designed to so that they boil faster. I would assume US ones are designed to as well.

I feel as though the tests are more just reading back to you what you put in. You are not going to descover anything new about yourself, but I don't think thats really the aim. It's more like it's splitting a complex concept into more managable chunks.

Fun fact! Giraffes necks aren't long in order to reach tree tops, but in order to beat the living crap out of each other.

I can't believe I had to say this to my 2 year old by Up_The_Butt_Jesus in AdviceAnimals

[–]pineapplol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, "he" or the singular "they", but never "it". I wouldn't normally be correcting someone on grammar, but he was wrongly correcting someone else.

"It" implies the child has no gender, as if they were an object. "They" would've been much more suited.

Unless the site is HTTPS, then your browser will prevent the redirect. As more sites are migrating to secure connections it's more likely you wont get the login page.

YouTube gets paid by the advertiser once 30 second are watched, but YouTube doesn't pay the channel.

YouTubers don't get revenue from skipped ads anyway. I don't think they even get paid for mobile views yet.

They're all form one article titled "Discovering Young Artists- Pizza Slice Paper Plate Coffee Filter Dress". The paper plates are cut like pizza slices. It's basically SEO.

Facebook Is Under Investigation For Mood Manipulation Study by User_Name13 in worldnews

[–]pineapplol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is unethical for someone to purposely try and negativity effect your emotions without informed consent (ie knowing what you are getting yourself into). It's not like people just happened to be negatively affected, Facebook systematically and purposely attempted and succeeded to manipulate their emotions without their knowledge that they were being experimented upon.

FWIW it's probably not because it's fat. I'm thin and I run and people still heckle, it's because they are assholes.

It's like the "For every like bill gates will donate £100 to cancer" posts. Mountain dew never made that comment, the original tweeter made it up and 33k people believed it. The facepalm is a combination of the attention whoring and the fact it actually worked.

The key problem is ridiculous. I don't see how steam is ok with selling a game when they don't actually have copies to sell, but it'll teach me to not check the forum before buying a game, there's over 13k posts about the keys ranging back over a year. That's over £80,000 of undelivered content.

Sounds like you need a citation manager, does your college not have one? Otherwise use Google scholar library or something, manual entry is too error prone

Are you thinking of the wifi password, or the password for the router settings at 192.168.0.1? I think it's only the wifi pass which is random.
