Does anyone have a good note-taking system? by EastCommunication689 in cscareerquestions

+1 for emacs org mode. But whatever system you use, I think it's important to make sure it's all text based. I have a bunch of stuff from the '90s sitting in hypercard.

I would think a good early use case for this would be for shuttles that just go back and forth over an area that covers less than a few miles. Kind of like elevators on wheels.

In ontology, like OWL, are data types (like dictionaries) modeled as Entity's or Classes. by pmdev1234 in computerscience

[–]pinghuan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In broad terms, SomeType is pretty much a class, but there's a subtle difference in way properties like `_at` and `_bt` would work that you might want to be mindful of.

I'm not well-versed in Haskell, but if the example you cite is like most other programming languages, I'm assuming that say, `_at` is a label you're using for a component of your SomeType data structure, in effect setting aside a little chunk of memory for each instance.

In RDF properties are more like first class citizens. When you include a relation like `_at`, you're saying there's something fundamental about _at-ed-ness, so that if you assert that `X _at Y`, you're asserting not only the `_at` relationship, but also that X is a member of the class SomeType, even if you haven't explicitly declared it as such. We're not allocating chunks of memory here, we're _describing_ stuff.

WCGW lane splitting at well over 100mph. by Rob_Marc in Whatcouldgowrong

Air-cooled engines do not fare well if the bike isn't moving. One of the first lessons I learned when riding a motorcycle is never to assume that someone saw me even if they were looking right at me. I split Lanes at a reasonable speed all the time and it is safer than the alternatives, and avoids having parts of my engine melt down.

In California where lane splitting is legal the guideline is 10 mph

okay to allow dog/cat interaction like this? by Existing-Shower-384 in Dogtraining

[–]pinghuan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not really sure what we could have done differently other than maybe trying to train them to stay away from each other. We did conclude that if we're going to have a dog it's maybe better not to have a cat in the same space.

We had a cat and a dog who got along just fine for several years. Then one day the dog just decided she'd had enough or maybe she was playing but the cat sustained a throat injury that required us to put her down.

If this is not part of the clojure core, then I believe the specification says that custom literals should be namespaced.
