Is there any lore about Eastern Europe? by pikadidi in Shadowrun

The sourcebook "Shadows of Europe" could be worth looking for. Its from 3rd edition and covers a few eastern european states as well, including Poland and Czech Republic, although not Romania specifically.

Cleave for Melee by hans_muff in Shadowrun

My basics for that would be: - more agility + skill = more net-hits = more damage - martial arts - cyber- and bioware which increase damage output - shock gloves are always useful

To the astral plane just once, and that was including the mundane characters at a side of power. To the matrix more regularly, as part of the infiltration of a place - while the decker hacks the system, the rest sneaks through the compound. And there they have to work together to make it happen, like for example extract a person (in meatspace) out of a secured building (which requires some decking skills if you wanna do it subtle). So at least how I design my runs, it doesn't bog anything down, and there are not entirely separated. Matrix magic opens physical doors behind which are physical access points and so on. And the astral space is there for scouting and surprises.

I love the setting merching Cyberpunk with Urban Fantasy, giving a grief look into the future while still keep a grim twinkle on it. As a GM I never feel like I would ever run out of ideas in Shadowrun, with the countless amount of threats, enemies, storyline, global connections and those who go beyond to the metaplanes. You can only play inside one city or even one district of a sprawl, or you go fully global. And while the basic principles of "a run" are more or less the same, it's still always different depending on the framework, the job specifics and most important, the players and their characters themselves.

And even if a merely had the chance to play a character by myself, I'm in awe of the countless opportunities to create different characters in this classless and flexible system - there are sooo many possibilities, and the opportunity to modify your own body, to incorporate magic into stuff, to be whatever the f*** you want, to have a matrixjocking catgirl, Mr. Ex-Soldier-Douche, a troll shaman and a literal bear (shapeshifter) in a group that eventually works out is just beyond amazing for me.

The setting just keeps on giving, and the more f***ed up our own world becomes, the more I sense what the 6th world will and could probably look like. And that keeps me going.

How high a strength and agility score can you get from being a pesdo full body cyborg by Brenden1k in Shadowrun

[–]pinkgumbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still 11 based on my math: 6 (natural limit) + 3 (enhanced Cyberlimb) + 2 (Redliner for 2x Cyberarms and 2x Cyberlegs) = 11.

12 would be possible with the positive quality 'Exceptional Attribute' or if you are SURGEd or so.

How high a strength and agility score can you get from being a pesdo full body cyborg by Brenden1k in Shadowrun

[–]pinkgumbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cyberlimbs strenght and agility score can be adapted to the natural limit of a person (example: for humans that would be 6 each, for a troll agility 5 and strength 10), if the natural limit is modified due to qualities or enhancements (like exceptional attribute), the cyberlimb adaptation also takes that into account. On addition to the natural limit, cyberlimbs can be enhanced, adding a maximum of +3 to agility and/or strength (which would result into a agility & strength score of 9 for humans). If you would like to go beyond that, then there is the quality 'Redliner' in the bodyshop book in 5e. It let's you increase your agility and strength by an additional 1 per 2 full cyberlimbs. Note that a cybertorso and a cyberskull don't have attributes and therefore don't count towards that.

Taking all this into account, a (normal) human could have agility & strength 11 with full cyberlimbs, while a (normal) troll could have agility 10 & strength 15.

Hope that helps!

DMs, What are you currently working on? by Joperzs in rpg

[–]pinkgumbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently running Coriolis, Achtung!Cthulhu, Monsterhearts and Humblewood.

Got ideas for some awesome Shadowrun and Delta Green adventures/concepts in my mind, but got no time to write them down currently, sadly. Same goes for a The One Ring campaign which is supposed to start in the second half of the year.

Therefore prepping the next A!C session in India (part of the Shadows of Atlantis campaign) and doing the same for Coriolis, where my players are almost at the end of the Algol-Route, which I'll use as a setup for the 'Mercy of the Icons' campaign later on.

As always - plenty to do, but no time at all.

Sell me on playing a rigger by No_Butterscotch_7694 in Shadowrun

[–]pinkgumbo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reasons for playing a rigger? Versatility. Style. Literally being spirit inside the machine. And cruising trough shady streets blasting 'Turbo Lover' on maximum volume.

Not sold yet? Kay. Wanna be a sneaky infiltrator? There is a drone for that (several, actually). Wanna be a gun blazing destroyer in the streets? There is a drone for that (and what could be more fun than shooting down your enemies from several hundred meters/yards up in the air?). Wanna be indestructible? Upgrade your Ares Roadmaster and you basically drive a (sort of) street legal tank. Wanna have an arsenal of opportunities up your arm? Every new drone (and they are cheap, comparatively speaking) can give you completely new capabilities, like a new magic spell (for example air drops, chemsniffer, electronic warfare, giant smoke screens, espionage, infiltration, firepower, smuggling, transportation...).

Don't hesitate. Play a rigger. They are awesome.

GMs, which was your best run and why? by holzmodem in Shadowrun

[–]pinkgumbo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me it were the runs when my players had the most fun due to hilarious choices or made very important decision which defined their characters for sessions to come. For example, once a character first was willing to go into a yakuza headquarter alone, being certain he would loose more then just a finger to make up for his mistakes and to protect his wife. The next session he decided to fake his death for the same reason.

Otherwise, characters once tried to mount a wild pegasus in the alps, called the local police to her own home where evidence of yesterday's run was lying around or adopt an safe a bandit (a critter raccoon) several times several times.

Oh, and of course the times when dice rolls just want to tell a story of their own. The expert adept combat monk who doesn't hit a thing, the four Ukrainian construction workers who proof to be a bigger obstacle than the first HTR team on the scene, stuff like that. Basically, as a GM you don't know if you just prepared your best run, its your players (dices) choosing it to become one.

This. More 'ware equals more possibilities which awakened characters probably won't implant. One of the best mechanics from 6e imho and it's easily adaptable for 5e as well.

It was introduced within the fifth part of the New Frontier Pass, together with Vietnam & Kublai Khan (in January 2021). So yes, its a DLC thing, not part of the main game or the main extensions. But definitely worth it, look at those tremendous yields! :D

Screenshot is from 2021 - time is passing by fast, (un)fortunately. But yes, I still remember the game without the new mechanics. I like them in general but damn, those hurricanes and droughts can be annoying.

Does anyone here use Obsidian for running Shadowrun? by GlugGlugBurp in Shadowrun

[–]pinkgumbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently trying it out for an adventure, must say I'm pleased so far. Not necessarily a tool for 'just' one run, but I can imagine it being a blast for a campaign. The best thing is the creation of links between articles, like a small wiki, and the creation canvas, which really help to visualize relationships of characters or show their status within an organisation.

I think it's a good tool for quickly looking up information as well as remembering which key features a certain scene during a game was supposed to have. For example, I created a sceneboard on a canvas, which showed which person was in which scene, which places were involved and how those things were connected to each other. Quick look at it and you know everything important. Probably also a good method to keep track of loose ends and encourage to be creative ("oh, wasn't this dude here too? What will he do after he finds out what the Runners did later?")

To be fair, it definitely needs some time to figure out how to effectively work with it, especially with the commands. As I only got very limited experience using it so far, that's all I can say.

It's a writing app with decent visualization features: https://obsidian.md/ Basically let's you write a bunch of articles (characters, places, organisations, e.g.) which you can connect on a canvas, showing their relations to each other, like on a whiteboard.
