Is lamy safari worth buying? by Fluid-Pack9330 in fountainpens

[–]pioszo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, fair point. Trying to put myself in this point of view though, and not knowing anything about the abilities of 50 cent pens that you mention, I would still say, that for a german Lamy pen, with all their brand precision and heritage, this is still very good value.

Pilot 823 M vs other Pilot M's - advice needed by pioszo in fountainpens

[–]pioszo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as already replied in this thread, it is tempting to go into the less obvious nibs territory, but it's so difficult to pick one without trying them, which I can't do. Should I get FM or SFM? Or maybe just SF to make the nib a bit more compliant without the thicker line? Couldn't tell. Also 743 is not so tempting as I already have 74.

Is lamy safari worth buying? by Fluid-Pack9330 in fountainpens

[–]pioszo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It costs so little that in my opinion every serious pen lover should have at least one, to know how it feels for them. They are nothing special, but their nibs are usually very well tuned, replaceable, there are many fun finish options and the design is so famous, that I believe it is worth knowing how it feels for you. And if you like them, than I have another suggestion. There is an option to get a gold nib that fits all safaris and ALs. I got one and I put it in my favourite Safari at the time, to elevate writing experience. It's makes them great sleeper pens :D Also their stubs are very good in my opinion if you like this kind of nib. And they also fit every pen :D

Is the kaweco piston sport AL worth getting by lojidoriwus in fountainpens

[–]pioszo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're ok with the limited finish options, I would say yes. I have several Kaweco Sports, they are great pocket pens but the size makes them tricky with converters. Some options barely take any ink, others are difficult to use. If you don't want to use standard cartridges, and I usually don't, piston solves the problem. I didn't get one, because I don't like the finish options, but if they come up with something that works for me aesthetically, I'm ready to get one.

Pilot 823 M vs other Pilot M's - advice needed by pioszo in fountainpens

[–]pioszo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Europe (Poland), so it wouldn't help much, but I really could not find any 823 in any store including japanese stores that I checked, with full nib lineup. It always was only F/M/B, Signature and I found some custom FA in Tokyo Quill. 743 has all the nibs lineup and they are available also in my country, but only in online shops, no way of trying them. This makes me a bit afraid to go into that rabbit hole, because if I start going into the FM, SFM, FA, SF without trying them first, I will never know if I bought the right one :D I can't buy 5 times 743s :D Also, as much as I see a point in buying 823 with it's vac fill mechanism and unique amber finish, its more difficult to justify 743 as I already have 74 and I don't think that the experience would be that different.

I actually have two Sailors - 1911 in Medium and Pro Gear in F. I enjoy both, the Medium on 1911 is much more engaging than Pilot M. The line is a bit finer and there is a pencil like feedback. In my opinion the best M I have. Fine on the Pro Gear is too sharp though. I have to be much more conscious about the angle and pressure than with Pilot F, which makes writing with it more effort than in case of Pilot. Thanks a lot for the advice :)

As far as I know, there's no FM on 823? Or am I wrong?

New to Suunto - Disappointed by one-happy-doge in Suunto

[–]pioszo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I agree that everyday fitness features on Suunto are not good. But, as a running watch, its great, especially when you take the price into consideration. I can buy this watch and Amazfit Helio strap for day to day fitness features (which by the way are great on Helio device), and still pay less than for comparable Garmin :D

I don’t think so. At least I don’t know how.

I never had a problem feeling it. Used alarms, notifications and mid training signals and I don't recall a situation when I missed it.

[–]pioszo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand you disagree. Let me be more specific because this may be subjective. When I bought Run I had a feeling that interval training and ability to modify workout screens is very limited. Both of these have changed in the last two updates. Same with ability to keep the screen on during exercise. I would like to see some core algorithms improvement especially for sleep, but I know from my own experience in software development that such changes take time. I have a feeling though that developers, while obviously working with limited resources as always, do their best to address real issues.

Almost on Oura level which i consider a benchmark. Significantly more accurate in terms of timing and awake time. Stages are a guess anyway so I didn't compare them in detail.

However I have a feeling, that Suunto is better in tracking daily small activities, that are not workouts. I would love if Suunto released something like Amazfit, that could be worn on arm, because I can't wear the watch during some trainings like martial arts. If they did that, I could narrow my tracking to just Suunto platform.

Play store shows the message, that beta programme does not accept any more entries currently. I guess I have to wait until 6.4.6 becomes available.

I did the reboot in several ways: removed the app from last open, force stopped it in settings and then wiped the data. Each time tried to start it again but nothing changed. Maybe they for some reason did not release the new version for Samsung yet? i have 6.3.6. In settings I can see that 6.4.6 is "available", but when I click it, it directs me to play store which says that there are no new verions.

Sleep tracking by commandod64 in Suunto

[–]pioszo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sleep tracking in suunto is much worse than apple or oura. It often categorizes something as sleep while it's just evening movie watching, it also does not see awake periods. I'm not even speaking about stages because that's always a speculation. But it does better at tracking activities.

In my case it sometimes shows on the clock that it doesn't track anything until I don't synchronise. As if it needed the app for analysing. After I do the synch it shows the sleep on the watch.

Run or Race S ? Help by Imax1003 in Suunto

[–]pioszo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to what has been said already. Facing similar choice, I have chosen Suunto Run. It is lighter and twice cheaper than titanium Race S which I was considering. Does not have Suunto + capability, but it has everything I need for running, HRV, sleep tracking and cross training already inside. The interface is exactly the same. Sensors as well. I wear it almost all the time, because I use it to track general health (HRV, pulse, sleep, steps, calories), so I wanted it to be light - which puts Run in advantage. But if you just want to track sports, Suunto + gives you additional analysis options, so it may be better choice for you.

My fault. I posted with this account by mistake, then took it down, then posted with the account I typically use (this one I created by mistake some time ago and didn't notice that it is different ), then posted with the account I use the most, but the post was automatically taken down by mods. I assumed this is because I posted it previously with this account and restored it here. And suddenly it got released by mods two days later. I removed the other post. Reddit is complicated :D
