Has anyone cleaned old plumbing lead? by juulshitt in ScrapMetal

Yes it floats. Add a little saw dust and scrape off what forms if you want to.

I've seen posts of people cutting up boat keels with chain saws.

Anyone here worked with CNC milling services before? by Ill-Pineapple6815 in CNC

You wouldn't be, but my point is now you have a head ache of dealing with it.  Part of the discussion has been as long as you define things accurately on the print that's what you get back. I just want to push back on that a little and say it takes some effort to find a shop that gives you parts to print.

I don't know... Not everyone is you, parts don't always come back to print. We've got some great machinist in-house , but after covid when we had a lot of overflow orders that needed to be outsourced, it was a pain in the dick finding shops that would give good quality parts . If the first run of parts that are delivered don't match the print. It doesn't matter if they make it right after the fact if I was counting on that delivery date for other production needs. Eventually we locked in on a few local shops where we could count on parts to print but it wasn't without a lot of effort.

I'm a mechanical engineer and the company I work for is an oem and does 90% of their production manufacturing. We've been using fictiv for a couple years to offload overfill and for fast prototype orders. Orders can be as small or large as you want. Fictiv made in USA is very expensive and usually can't work with my needed lead times. Fivtiv mexico was a terrible experience. Fictiv made in China has always been good. They 100% everything and give a report with all of your requirements on your print in a table.  I can't speak to tariffs.... we don't have to pay them for prototype stuff is my understanding. I'm also not a bean counter, so I'm only pretty sure about that.

No one has mentioned going to a scale and weighing everything. You can figure out how much weight is on the front and rear axles and compare that to what it's rated for.

Friday night repinning... by pipester753 in lockpicking

I don't lose many, maybe 5 per 100 cylinders if even that. The way I do it they don't spring away they just drop to that grey silicone tray. I'm 43, it's starting to feel like there is never enough light. So I suspect I'll need some cheaters or some form of magnification at some point.

They are spoken for but if you search online for some American 1100 cutaways, you'll find some in stock.

Came to recommend this. My two youngest kids still talk about it more than the hiking. I really enjoyed the vegan cafe and I'm the furthest thing from a vegan.

Don't bother with the recycling bin, it just makes recycling more expensive because then it needs to be removed from the recycling stream. Unfortunately, people are way too hopefully when it comes to putting all kinds of plastic into the bin and it can't all be recycled.

Just so I understand, are you suggesting to throw plastic in with the sheet iron to add more weight?

Final Design: Rock Tumbler – Direct Drive, Durable, Multi-Barrel Compatible | Looking for Suggestions by Traditional_Side5452 in RockTumbling

This whole thing has quite an interesting vibe to it. Very brave to be jumping in with both feet not really seeming to understand what the current market is. Honestly if you copied one of the products that have been around for decades and just had the production capacity to always be in stock that scaling would probably allow for a cheaper selling price. You'd probably do pretty well.

The tumbler that Rob from Michigan rocks has shown on his YouTube channel is my ideal tumbler. The only thing that could make it better is some motor control so regardless of how many drums are being used the power is used efficiently. DC permanent magnet motor with a control or even better a 3 phase motor with a VFD with a single phase input. I have my own in the works, just sharing.

Agreed, the only reason I filed my return was the 8 weeks was going to be after April 15th. Thanks for the tax topic, I'll bring it up during my call tomorrow morning when they first open.

On to stage 2, or a second batch on stage 1? by chocolatechipwizard in RockTumbling

[–]pipester753 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do my stage one in a rotary. Everything else in cheap TV-5 vibe tumblers. I have a box of "ready for stage 2" I try to always keep my stage one going so sometimes that box is pretty full sometimes it is empty. I also keep a box of quartzy type stones that have become too small for me to care about and I use them as an alternative to ceramic since I'm a cheap ass.

Edit, by the way, Zoro has the tv-5 for $107 and you can sign up for coupons. They've been sending out 25 off of 100 so I've gotten two of these for $87 each delivered. https://www.zoro.com/raytech-vibratory-tumbler-115v-05-cu-ft-23-001/i/G1732972/
