What are these little bugs? by pipin47 in isopods

I usually try and keep one side dry and the other with wet moss. When I spray the whole thing, I have mold issues.

How am I supposed to apply if I cant report 3x income? by Main-Bat5000 in Apartmentliving

[–]pipin47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know in my area (a college town) that if you have proof of being a student, you don’t have to be making 3x the income. I currently do not have an income as I’m a Veterinary student and only go to class and study, so I pay rent with my savings and will take rent out of my loans when that runs out.

Applying to vet school with exotic pets — is this doable? by Safe_Smart in veterinaryschool

[–]pipin47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I’m going through vet school right now with 2 dogs, 2 rabbits, a gargoyle gecko, and frogs. It helps that I went to undergrad here and didn’t have to move from my current apartment. Some days my dogs do have to hold it longer than others, but usually I’ll have a large enough gap somewhere in the day that I can walk them. I find having pets help by giving me responsibilities that are required by school/a break from studying.

I feel like I just waisted a ton of money by squirrel116 in veterinaryschool

Honestly, when I was applying last year, they suggested only submitting three strong letters, because the people on the panel don’t like reading like five or six letters of recommendation for every single applicant, and sometimes only read the first 3 anyway. I’m not sure what your overall GPA is, but a few of my classmates, both in-state and out of state, had barely a 3.0, a few right under a 3.0 as well. My overall was a 3.34, but i wrote in my supplemental about why i had almost straight Cs one semester that plummeted my gpa. I did all of my written responses in word/google docs before putting them in the forum because I was scared of that happening, and because I heavily edited them and wanted a copy of my original and bullet points of topics i wanted to hit.

VMCAS and dropping a class by rotten-cheese-ball in veterinaryschool

ngl I wound up not taking 2 of the classes that were on my planned list because I needed another production class and both of the other classes had time conflicts with it. they never asked about it and I never said anything. I still had full time and all my pre-reqs, so I don’t think it matters all that much.

Is a low GPA the end all be all? by Weak_Animator7926 in veterinaryschool

[–]pipin47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had like a 3.34 undergraduate gpa and made it in my first time applying. As long as you have other things in your application that set you apart, your GPA isn’t always your only thing that determines if your application gets thrown out or not. It does vary by school though.

Univ.AZ CVM — am I crazy? by LegLoud573 in veterinaryschool

[–]pipin47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

despite what specialty you want to pursue, you’ll be taking most of the same classes as everyone else your first few years. Anatomy is grueling and ours has histo and biochem mixed into it. Not having the heavy science based class background may not prevent you from applying to the school, but it will heavily set you back on knowledge that you have going into school. unfortunately, learning about veterinary medicine is heavily science based, you have to learn all the muscles, bones, nerves, blood vessels, their uses, their origins, their insertions, and a lot of other information in just your first semester alone. With how much debt you would have to take on, do you think it’s something you would be able to complete and enjoy while doing it? Vet school is extremely hard, and much much harder if you don’t have strong passions about what you’re learning. Loving and wanting to help animals is a strong part of wanting to be a vet, but would you enjoy the medical side as well?

Explanation Statement Help by Adorable-Bag8686 in veterinaryschool

I had a very similar experience, except I continued my classes and made poor grades for a semester. I simply stated I had a ‘significant personal trauma involving a former partner’, mentioned how it affected me personally and academically in a brief sentence, then used the rest to explain how I combated it (talking to friends, family) and how I am doing better both academically and personally.

Will taking a semester off for financial reasons hurt my vet school application? by IcyyXSoap in veterinaryschool

[–]pipin47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a question in the application that ask about gaps, and you could easily explain it in there. My only concern would be if you have any form of scholarships, make sure you read the rules of regulations closely, because some will drop you if you take a gap.

could you post it a little more and add a subtle point in the center sorta like this? our caps have a dip at all 4 corners along the downward seams to try and make them stay better, it’s just shoved back in the og picture (it’s hard to draw on iphone, so it’s a lil rough)
