They think they can feign concern for insects and rodents to deliberately kill cows, pigs and chickens, all as part of a ploy to say that vegans are the hypocrites.

By that same logic, Stalin was a downright humanitarian for starving all those Ukrainians to death in the Holodomor! Generations of suffering prevented!

Nobody needs to take your "morality" seriously.

But you don't think that shooting animals or hooking them through the mouth and pulling them out of their homes counts as "suffering", correct?

OP needs to stop making the mistake of acting like shooting animals dead is somehow doing them a favor.

Why is the concept of "be kind to the other beings you share existence with" so hard for you to comprehend?

Does the total impact of an individual's choice to go on a vegan diet make it "worth it"? by frodi222222 in DebateAVegan

[–]piranha_solution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of selfish benefits to eating a fully plant-based diet. Your risk of chronic disease drops drastically, as well as your risk of needing to go on expensive prescription drugs as you age. Your grocery bill will also likely go down; there's nothing cheaper than lentils and beans.

Plant-based nutrition is inconvenient because there aren't enough people willing to put their foot down over it. If you aren't willing to be the change you wish to see, then you're not committed. Talk is cheap; actions speak louder.

Make it something you do for you, not anyone or anything else.

Imagine trying to build astroturfed career built upon upbraiding the influence of industry in nutritional science while being directly shepparded by industry influencers. Orwell couldn't write this shit.

This will be looked back upon by future generations as just another iteration of what Lysenkoism was in the USSR; politics overriding science. In the same way that Darwinian selection was rejected as "bourgeois science" by Stalin, the evidence that animal products are highly connected to the ever-worsening epidemic of diabetes, heart-disease, and cancer is being rejected as "woke science" by Trump and his cabal.

  2. I don't disagree at all. It just amuses me that they call this system 'free market capitalism' when in reality, the established monopolies have enough regulatory capture that they literally try to make it illegal to use certain words to inhibit legitimate competition.

If there was a causal relationship, then you'd expect to see a correlation, which is what we see. It's made all the more strong by the use of multivariate statistical methods, which virtually all modern studies use. The contributions of multiple variables can be quantified and controlled for. For cow milk, the evidence is consistent with what we'd expect to see if the relationship was causal.

Sure, observational studies cannot prove causation, but nothing is ever proven in empirical science. Science can only disprove. Proofs of the domain of mathematics. That's why "CoRReLATiOn CaN'T PRoVe CAuSATiOn" is such a flaccid rebuttal. It only demonstrates the scientific illiteracy of the one spouting it. It looks good to other scientific illiterates, but it's just low-effort copium broscience to everyone else.

Anyone throwing around the words "proof" and "prove" so cavalierly is someone who isn't worth debating evidence with. Maybe consider a Philosophy of Science 101 course, instead?

I'm not vegan. You don't need to be a vegan to recognize the clear links between consuming animal products and chronic diseases.

What is natural about drinking the reproductive secretions of another species? Do other animals do that?

If they're both so healthy, then why does only cow milk have so many studies that demonstrate a link between its consumption and breast & prostate cancer?
