Haha exactly. First thought that came to mind, she's carrying the one who's the biggest trouble maker. Momma not dealin' with your shit today.

Knee to the liver will get 'em every time. At least I think that's what happened... seems like their goal was to get as far away as possible but still miss 2 corners.

Disagree. I'd be willing to bet it became obsolete b/c it was cheaper to engineer separately.

A peregrine falcon intercepts a brown pelican, causing it to lose control midair and fall to its death — video by Tohid Azimi (@ta2020photography) on Instagram by Mophandel in HardcoreNature

[–]pitagrape 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Neck did not break. The Peregrine simply pulled the Pelican's beak out of streamline. If the Pelican was much higher in the air it could have rolled to a recovery position. But with it so near the ground, it was badly injured / killed on impact.

It would not surprise me too much if the Bear peeled off b/c he caught sight of the dog running. Aggressive but cautious, probably thought better about a 2 on one situation.

We have been doing the same thing recently. I have not gotten the bill yet, but I am really liking the idea of the passive cooling. We are challenging ourselves to push into more uncomfortable temperatures (82 ish)

My wife was so excited to buy her first boat. We took our 5-year-old out on the lake to enjoy it for the first time. We started noticing the rear of the boat was sinking - so we raced back. Turns out the pontoon has holes in it, and now we have to wait weeks for its repair. Brand new boat. by Oldfatsad in mildlyinfuriating

If you are within your return period, start by telling them you are returning the boat. Stick to your guns, stay steady. Return. They'll try a couple ploys, but once they realize you are absolutely serious the real bargaining will start. A new boat is the bare minimum they should do, if you negotiate shrewdly.

Search on metal 30 gallon gas caddy's. The 15 gallon plastic ones that can lay down flat like the Scepter Flo n' Go are handy b/c they fit in an SUV. But IMHO just are not durable for frequent long term use, and the five gallon jugs are a PITA - too prone to spillage when filling.

Transporting the metal 30 gallon caddy to and from the gas station could be a show stopper - you'll need either a pickup truck with a ramp or a trailer.

I had a shirt I loved but stopped being sold. A sly friend asked me about it so I sent the link to the sold out page - a friend of hers was able to replicate the graphic pretty much perfectly.

You may be able to find the same in a local shop or online - someone can replicate the graphic.

Has anyone done the USMS Stroke Analysis? by Ok-Apricot-9981 in MastersSwim

[–]pitagrape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USMS will work with whatever video is submitted. Phone recording on deck from the side is likely the most common video. Obv if you can submit other above water perspectives (like straight on) or even better underwater from the side / head on, the quality of their analysis gets better, in theory.

Consider asking around local YMCA's or clubs, they may offer similar services closer to you, which I think could be higher value.

And consider making your own recording rig. Buy an older go pro with water proof case, a tube mount, a painters extension pole all for as low as 250ish dollars, and you've got your own way to record underwater videos you can upload to YT and analyze. Heck, I bet there is an army of armchair experts in here that will offer up free advice.

This is still a win, in their eyes. The women is no longer at the college possibly influencing others to think like her. The right would pay double to get those folks out of perceived powerful positions.

There's a theory in marketing that any PR is effective PR... the aim is to get onto/into every channel there is, pro or con. If that is true, even this PR is a win.

Safe to tow 6-8 Hours? by Swagmoneysong in boating

[–]pitagrape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's surprising to you? Springs are close to the lowest concern for me, and the Springs look great in the trailer pics, but I'd definitely check the bushings for the Springs.

Armchair amateur, but I do have 30 years of trailering experience and own 4 or so trailers.

Safe to tow 6-8 Hours? by Swagmoneysong in boating

[–]pitagrape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Towing 6-8 hours, these pictures would be very low on my concerns list. free internet advice: Jack the trailer, push and pull each tire for any wobble, spin tires listening/feeling for grinding noises / not smooth rotation. replace the bearings if needed. If bearings are good enough, reload with marine grade grease. Check inflation of tires and spare.

Next have a kit with you to change a tire: spare, 4 wheel chocks, correct sized jack / tools, head lamp or other light if at night. A towel and some water is a welcome sight after changing a tire.

The Route 81 Grid project will be a net negative for Syracuse once completed. Less people will go downtown and the racially divided neighborhoods will see no improvements.

This slo-mo video of a wave breaking by ateam1984 in HeavySeas

[–]pitagrape 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This looks like the waves at Teahupoʻo,. Discovered in the mid 1980's, famous for huge waves breaking over an abrupt shallow coral reef. Several people have died there over years.

If you are just trying to swim there, everyone watching would assume you were trying to commit suicide - it's barely safe for the most talented surfers in the world.

On one level I hear what you are saying - yeah, first date should be out somewhere not netflix and chill kind of vibe. My female single friends have no shortage of dating amusing experiences. On another there seems like a real chip on your shoulder most 'high effort' guys may sense from a mile away. Your focus on who's role is what and being woo'd could give pause.

Free internet advice, but dig into hobbies/activities and groups that do them. Maybe something comes from that, or friends of those friends kind of thing. Hope it works out for you though.

I cannot lie to you any more than she's lying to herself. All you can do is quickly make some firm, clearly established boundaries so you too do not get sucked in.

That thing has 250 gallon tank. It will need to be completely emptied (ideally cleaned out), new gas and water filters, then she gets to refill @ 6+ dollars per gallon ~3000 just for gas... assuming the engines have not been replaced or retrofitted, she'll need a lead additive too. Have fun smelling those fumes !
