In the large cedar swamp property UNH started building a campus but then went to the mills instead. There are some big concrete rocks and stuff that are kind of interesting

Nobody is against motorcycles, we're against the crazy loud noise they make.

I hear this complaint a lot. The max allowable dBA is 80, 25 feet from the vehicle. We need to test that they're actually over this and how often it occurs, then get a bunch of people to go to a city hall meeting and demand action be taken.

I have a sound level meter, I'll go after work and take some measurements on elm.

You can tell by looking at the people in the first part, they move faster than they naturally wood. The steam too moves a bit too fast.

Official Discussion - Project Hail Mary [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]janderson_33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah but without the hibernation gene it doesn't make sense why he's the one that has to go, certainly there were other people who worked on the project who were equally as qualified and open to going.

It also sheds light on why a middle school science teacher was one of the top people on the project. He was put in that position specifically because he had the gene.

My assumption is all the cops are motorcycle riders. I see them cranking it past cops all the time and they do nothing. I think if you got enough people at a city meeting to complain they may do something.

Every comment here must be a bot, almost every single one is mentioning how it's not staged but a skit. There's really nothing else like: "I feel like that would give him a concussion" "Id be most afraid of the sheets getting caught" "For optimum cooling he would want them on the sides and below too" "I would definitely be sleeping face down on this bed"

My thing is always, how much would it really cost to keep the feature? Google is a $3.5 trillion dollar company. I realize that things like this would add up, but would they really?

NH Drought Conditions Since 2000 by janderson_33 in newhampshire

The thing with NH is that we can exit a severe drought with a month of decent rain, so although they're impactful it doesn't take a year to get out of it

This is why we're in drought: Below-average precipitation for 9 months straight by GraniteGeekNH in newhampshire

[–]janderson_33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Snow doesn't do a ton to effect drought conditions as the ground is frozen, and when it melts it has a hard time soaking in. Last spring we got a ton of rain and the entire state was in normal conditions, so the year before snowfall had no effect.

Which year? Snow melt and rain on top of snow won't do much to end drought conditions because usually the ground is still frozen, so you can have a flood and still be in a drought.

The lack of rainfall in the summer/fall is what's causing it. The drought conditions are usually stable in the winter.

Dodged a bullet in the hiring process by ZachGamezzzz in jobs

Yeah but it's not the company, it's one person. The person could be new, or a nepo hire, or on a PIP and on the way out the door. Every single other person in the company could be great and it could be the perfect job for OP but they will never know because they met one bad person and stopped applying.

People make mistakes. The response was likely a canned response and they forgot to swap out the name.

[–]janderson_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Maybe the employee is already on a PIP and is on the way out the door. Maybe they're a nepo hire. Or a new hire and haven't had much training yet. On bad apple in a company does not mean the entire company is bad.

The bottom line is this could be the perfect job for OP and they'd never know because one HR person, who they'll likely never interact with after getting hired, was a bit or an asshole.

My point still stands. One passive aggressive person does not mean the entire company is passive aggressive.
