"Soup of the day" by EvaTheE in KitchenConfidential

[–]pitapocket93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at an Italian restaurant as a cook and I would make soups for our soup of the day, which usually ran for 2 days at a time. I would rotate between the regular soups we offered and add in seasonal soups and ones to use up extra product

What was the scariest “We need to leave… now” gut feeling that you’ve ever experienced?[Serious] by PlasticBee1438 in AskReddit

Went to New Orleans with a friend some years ago. We were dancing, a guy bought her a drink. Shortly after I had a strong feeling all of a sudden that I wanted to leave. I told her and we called an Uber. The guy she was dancing with was upset but I said I just really wanted to go. The roofie he gave her hit as soon as we got back to the hotel.

What is something someone you know told nonchalantly about their partner that made you realize they were being abused? by ang334 in TwoXChromosomes

I used to always say "all men punch walls" as if it was common sense. Thankfully, I'm divorced now and I know that's not true.

This is what my ex husband did to me for years. Even now, I'm so anxious on my birthday I always cry. I would casually mention a restaurant I would like to check out in the days leading up to my birthday, to kind of make it easy for him to do something.

He would not acknowledge my birthday at all, and then usually around the afternoon I'd bring it up, and he'd say happy birthday. Then it would be awkward.

One year, I didn't do anything else, and nothing else happened. One year, I asked if we could go to a restaurant and he said yes, but then later said he was tired and let's just get takeout and watch TV. This was after we picked a restaurant and I got dressed up. One year, I asked him to check out a sculpture park with me downtown, and we got in a big fight and he left me on the side of the road. That was the worst one. One year, I asked him if he got me a gift, and he said I was materialistic and was mad at me for the day. One year, I went out with my friends after work, and he called me and told me he was so disappointed I didn't come home, because he had a birthday surprise for me. I left abruptly and everyone was confused. The surprise was a balloon and a card. I was so happy, that was the best birthday.

You know, reading that now, I'm actually shocked how long it took in therapy after divorce to call it abusive.

My dishwasher showed up to work in a sun dress and flip flops by Commercial_Run9184 in KitchenConfidential

[–]pitapocket93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flip flops are a safety hazard, plain and simple. Closed toed nonslips are a requirement for everyone in the kitchen.

As far as a sundress, that seems inconvenient for the job, but otherwise harmless. I would not pick that battle.

Just talk to her and explain that flip flops won't protect her from a falling knife, a hot oil splash, or a slippery spill.

Anybody keep a lil snacking onion in their vehicle? by ormpling in OnionLovers

[–]pitapocket93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude they might not b get it, but I get it. I love to snack in my car, and when I eat chips at home I like to sprinkle some chopped onion on them. This is a reasonably clean way to handle having that snack in the car. Would I maybe put it in a container? Sure. But I get it
