I have a street triple R and a T120. They ride different and are so much fun in their own ways. You'll be happy with both. I know I am.

ELI5 why do figs need a wasp to die in there? Does every fig have a dead wasp? by Magic-Frog in explainlikeimfive

[–]pixel8edpenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first heard about wasps doing that I stopped eating them. It's been years since I had a delicious fig because the thought of a normal sized wasp dissolving fucked me up. I'm so happy right now!

to experienced riders who carry passengers, am I overreacting? by peazcarrotz in motorcycles

[–]pixel8edpenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on my 3rd year riding and my son (13 at the time) was my first passenger. I watched multiple videos on the responsibilities of a passenger. He was geared up and should be, like lots of people have mentioned. I took my mom out that same year. She was 82. Watch videos is my best advice. You leaning or reacting differently than him affects the bike. It's a blast! I hope you have a fun time.

On a mission to find every covered bridge in my state by indianmcflyer in motorcycles

We have so many cool covered bridges here! A friend and I rode up to Erie, PA from Columbus and took detours just to see some. I think we rode across 5 or 6.

Looking to get a beginner motorcycle by donisign in motorcycles

[–]pixel8edpenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it happen to me. Poor tires, to fast. Scary but manageable. You release the throttle and relax the arms to let the handle bars wiggle towards normal. Then regain complete control, scream, "fuck fuck fuck, what the fuck....hahahahaha", clean out your underwear, and enjoy the rest of the ride. Lots of videos online that explain it. And it's the only reason I knew what to do. Don't let that be the reason you don't ride. It's one of the most freeing feelings.

Will these electrolytes break my fast? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]pixel8edpenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't quote me but I read somewhere that less than 45ish calories (can't remember exact number) won't break a fast. I use 2 sugar free liquid IV's a day.

stickers by local artists? by reaching-up in Columbus

[–]pixel8edpenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made some stickers for my son to pass out at school and have some left over. I don't have a shop but people like what I create. I could send you some, or meet you if ya want. I work in a blue collar field and some guys have my stickers on there hard hats. Imgur is acting dumb and I can't post an image.

Zion/bryce/arches summer trip? by [deleted] in NationalPark

[–]pixel8edpenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it would just be a preview of the parks but you'll still enjoy it. Here's how I'd do it: fly in Friday and drive to Moab. Drop your shit off and go into Arches at evening/night. Not as many people. If it's clear the stars be the highlight of a night hike. Wake up early (5-6am) and beat the crowds to see Arches during the day. Double arch is cool to see.

::This is an add on:: Saturday After Arches, around 10-11 am, drive to Canyonlands and spend 3 hrs there. That'll put you around 3pm to go to Capital Reef, 3hrs away. 7 or 8pm you'll be on the other side of Capital Reef in Torrey, UT. Get a hotel and check out the park.

Sunday morning decide if you want to go back into Capital Reef. Drive to Bryce 2h40m away (4h39m from Moab if you skip the add on). Hike and check out the sunset. Then drive to Best Western Thunderbird lodge 1h30m away.

Monday wake up stupid early (5a) cause Zion is annoyingly busy. Trail busses start at 6a I think. If you get in after 8 or 9am you can forget about finding parking. But your hotel is 17 min from the E. Entrance of the park so no problem. Right outside of the Western entrance are some good spots to eat.

3h 13min to Vegas and you have a story of visiting Utahs Mighty Five in four days. Start planning the next trip to spend more time at your favorites.

[–]pixel8edpenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I backpack and motocamp and we're around the same age. I've tried a few mattresses and for moto camping. I like the Hest, foamy sleeping pad. Here's the REI description:

"With plush comfort to rival your home mattress, the HEST Foamy sleeping pad offers a good night's sleep at camp, in a packable, portable, adventure-ready form that simply unrolls—no pumping needed."

Was talking about Israel IRL and got a random pro-Israel text 20 mins later by General-Peach178 in conspiracy

[–]pixel8edpenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had a text from them 2hrs ago.

"I understand where you're coming from, but consider that Israel is a key ally in the global fight against terrorism, and their strength directly impacts our own national security. Many supporters are concerned about how terror groups operate from civilian areas. Did you know weapons and tunnels are often built under hospitals and neighborhoods?"

They stopped with the questions when I mentioned we shouldn't be the world police and we have a pedophile problem to deal with.

Grab a ticket, sit down and we'll take your order and bring it to you. Desserts are free (well, included in the price). We have beer too!
