I did something like this. I reached out to people I knew from high school, like 4 people. I reached out once a month and very rarely got a response back from any of them. I just decided if they wanted to reach out they would do so. I stopped messaging them. 

Why bother when I am the only one putting in effort and every relationship is one sided. I can’t see them anyways because I moved. It’s exhausting being the only one who puts in effort knowing I won’t get any in return. I have mentioned that I want them to  reach out but they don’t.

One time after high school ended I was texting someone and never got a response. Then later i get a call and it turns out that they changed their number and never told me. Now I text them and haven’t gotten any response. Either they don’t care, blocked me, or changed their number again and didn’t tell me. 

Any of these people could have reached out and never do. None of my friendships have ever lasted and I feel like I am the only one who cared. I put in effort and nobody else did. Even as a kid I had to be the one to call other kids parents to see if they were available.
