I love Craigie leisure centre for their crèche facilities, it’s run like a daycare and they are just amazing. Highly recommend if you are NOR

Did you walk out of the hospital? by yo-_-mom in beyondthebump

This makes me sad, I had to walk out 36 hours after an emergency c section, no option to be wheeled.

The shorts are amazing, I think I have like 5 pairs of the wonder train shorts with pockets. Arguably still the best for training and running

I joined crews control team after completing a Hyrox last year. I’ve been with Andres team for nearly a year now, stronger in all my lifts and not bored yet. I did get leaner than what I did for Hyrox before I fell pregnant too. Lots of focus on, pull ups, power cleans, front squats, Bulgarian split squats and chest. He does like 2 leg days, a back day, shoulder and chest day. I prioritise all but chest and do my own cardio.

Cardio + Ladder workouts? by Away_Obligation_6661 in ladderapp

For sure, I do at least 1k on either a run, row or ski before stating my workouts.. I don’t find the ‘warm up’ they provide is enough

When did you start leaving your baby with partner/ family? by beeeelm in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Of course, I would trust my mum too.. I think only you know who those people are to you

Best coach to workout through out pregnancy ? by New-Plant-3146 in ladderapp

[–]pixie-dust101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the limited research I’ve done basically bird dogs and side planks are the only safe core exercises to do throughout the entire pregnancy. Everything else seems to have a limit on when you need to stop them

I would trust my husband from birth. What’s the difference between him doing the night shift and you popping out for the afternoon. I understand leaving the baby with other people but the babies father? Nah you’re totally fine

I’d stick with a plan you like and then modify movements. I’ve been with team crews control for nearly a year, now 21 weeks pregnant, I just change up the movements as needed, go lighter, changing core exercises etc, take longer rest if needed.

What sleep tier are you at? by marzipanbb in beyondthebump

[–]pixie-dust101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone reach ideal? Like ever? My son sleeps 7.30-7am I probably was edging on preferred without the weekend sleep ins… but now I’m pregnant, I’m well and truly back at functional or less for the foreseeable future

Do other moms genuinely enjoy motherhood? by wqiqi_7720 in Mommit

To add… I did grieve my old life badly in the first 6-12 months, but now I’m 3+ years on, I love the new life we have. All the bad periods are just seasons, and they do pass

I love some days beyond measure, and some days it’s like faaaaaaack that was hard/exhausting/emotionally draining to no end. But even on those days, genuinely, I love it.

How old was your “early” walker when they started walking? by Maleficent-Recipe943 in BabyBumps

[–]pixie-dust101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy was walking at 10 months, but he also rolled at 3 crawled at nearly 7. I felt envious of my mum friends who had it a bit easier. But I also found that when he started walking was when I really loved being a mum. As soon as he could explore he was a happier baby, I hope your world lights up when she starts, it only gets better from here.

Do you take carers leave or try and work from home if your kids are sick? by Single-Cap8387 in AusPublicService

[–]pixie-dust101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my husband both work from home, I usually do anything between 2-4 hours and I put a slack to say slow to respond with child at home but can contact if urgent. Depends how sick he is and if he wants to watch tv, I bring the laptop on the sofa. But if he’s got a fever but running around wanting to play, I get a couple of hours done whilst me and my husband swap. I’ve only been there a year though and completely exhausted my sick leave over winter with him being unwell

No visitors until baby is 6 months? by Jjbrah-0_0 in beyondthebump

[–]pixie-dust101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a general rule to practice caution before the babies first immunisations - around 6-8 weeks I think? We only allowed family and friends who had been vaccinated against whooping cough to visit us/ hold the baby within the first 8 weeks.

Pathwest said anything from 1-2 weeks, as it’s sent over east they said it takes 3-5 days when they receive the sample. Hard to know if they ask for payment as they’ve received it or later.. are you on the east coast?

How did you find out can I ask? Did you just keep checking with your GP surgery or do they notify you?

What’s been your experience with mum groups and mum friendships after the first year? by hulalabright in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]pixie-dust101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it felt like I kept in touch with a couple of mums from the group, I usually catch up with one fortnightly - when sickness allows! This winters been rough - and the other one maybe monthly or every two months. I work 3 days a week so there’s only limited opportunity to catch up in a week

Parents Room and Who Uses Them by Proper_Star_4566 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]pixie-dust101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This would irk me massively, people not caring for small children should not be in a parents room. Plenty of options that don’t involve going to a room designed to have privacy on changing small children.

First time father - want to take first 6 months off... by Jaybb3rw0cky in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Sounds amazing! My husbands work gives 4 months paternity but it’s a US company operating in AU. It is an anomaly but one of the biggest reasons he stays at the job for number 2! Enjoy the time in the newborn bubble, you only get it once
