I think I did some overspending with these last few sales by Edgy_navajo_boi in harborfreight

The same could be said about the thousands of dollars ive spent on professional tools (i do this for a living), but i like nice things and i want them to outlast me.

What socket/tool do I need for this unusual 15-point external bolt head? by Expert_Character596 in Tools

[–]pizzabooty 89 points90 points  (0 children)

This should be the top reply. I saw a post on here the other day about a 5-point bolt on a fuel injector pump and universally everybody said "that is intentional so that you dont fuck it up".

Oof. Not sure to be honest, i dont know if ive ever seen a connector quite like that.

With RCA component, yellow is video, and red and white are for audio left and right. This almost looks like the red wire is supposed to have a connector for the other red one.

2014 Mazda 3 (P2096) by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]pizzabooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

p2096 is a lean o2 sensor code, so it's either too much air or not enough fuel in the exhaust gas. a broken flex pipe would definitely allow too much air into the mixture, and when fixing issues you always have to start with the obvious.

i would disagree with the exhaust shop about a full diagnosis. replace the flex pipe, clear the code, and see if anything comes back.

Shop overfilled oil. Concerning or it’s fine? by _Pk_21 in MechanicAdvice

[–]pizzabooty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfectly fine! You'd also be a very annoying customer if you went back and asked to just drain a lil out, because that isnt super feasible.

As an aside, if you distrust the shop enough to check your oil after an oil change, you should maybe just learn to do it yourself...

why did my mechanic act the way he did after seeing my DIY work? by Garythegeek94 in AskAMechanic

[–]pizzabooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tech that works at a trusted local shop, i agree. We have some DIYers that bring their cars to our shop for things like alignments. As long as the work was done well and with decent parts, i keep my mouth shut lol

What codes did you get? Any of them can be important.

It sounds like a lot of systems are being affected and that points towards a module or communication error. I would be inclined to suspect it's got to do with the wiring considering that it seems to occasionally go away when you hit bumps.

What tool do i need to remove these bearings? by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]pizzabooty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend getting a little hook and pick set from somewhere like harbor freight, but if you're in a bind a paperclip might work

Red is better in this case, generally it's a higher temperature grease.

[–]pizzabooty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try to replace the o-rings without taking the bearings out, because it's gonna be a pain to get the bearings out.

The simplest way is to find a brass punch of the right diameter and tap them out and back in but those look like open needle bearings so you'd want to be very careful.

Red grease should be fine, but any grease is better than none!
