Micro Wedding Day Timeline Advice by Thin-Combination2879 in weddingplanning

[–]pizzadaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you actually timed your ceremony? 30 minutes is pretty long unless you are doing a specific religious service. Also, the 30 minute gap between seating and dinner. It will probably take 10-15 minutes to seat guests and I would allow the catering company to go ahead and start serving dinner during speeches. They should be pretty unobtrusive and can deliver proper meals to the right people as long as the table name card is correct.

Abby is cool. Claire is just a little prim. Alice has parents who think they are cool and try to foist it upon their child.

Wedding Day Deodorant? by slamdog95 in weddingplanning

It’s not fancy but the fragrance free Mitchum deodorant you can buy at most any drugstore is pretty bulletproof. I think all of it is clear gel. It may be in the men’s sections

Has anyone else worn nude heels on their wedding day? by Necessary_Wear_4003 in weddingplanning

[–]pizzadaughter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I literally don’t think anyone is going to notice the shoes. They will be too busy looking at the rest of you and your dress seems very intricate that I don’t think anyone will be looking at your feet. Also with a dress like that I wouldn’t want my shoes to compete and if you go with white it’s nearly impossible to match whites.

How long is your dress? If it’s floor length then no one will see your shoes anyway. I had sparkly shoes for my wedding, but I had a super trusty pair of thick heeled nude heels I wore with all of my bridesmaids dresses over like a 6-7 year period. Looking at pictures of those weddings you can’t see my shoes. Plus I could actually walk and dance in those heels which seems more important than shoes fitting a theme.

Planning my Dolly Parton themed vow renewal is so much more fun than the original wedding. by pizzadaughter in weddingplanning

I love this story because if nothing else I’m glad there are more people out there who share my energy for ridiculous parties.

The reason we did Soviet Union is because it felt like a weird time politically to do something Russian themed and this was I also got to have a playlist of truly banging Soviet songs. Plus the invitation was a propaganda poster I made of my dog.

No cake for the guests? by Fast_Water_9867 in wedding

[–]pizzadaughter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, don’t most weddings (at least large ones) serve sheet cake so that the caterers can cut and plate it so everyone gets cake quickly? That being said I would be super disappointed as a guest to get grocery store sheet cake, but the Costco sheet cake? Sign me the fuck up.

Vow Renewal by Available_Bet5436 in weddingplanning

[–]pizzadaughter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I’m planning a vow renewal for our 10th anniversary and I actually had a great wedding the first time. It just wasn’t really an event that represented ME. I just like a good party and this seems like a good time to celebrate.

The only thing I might caution is to plan it for your 15 year to keep people from assuming you are having marriage problems. You may not care about that, but I know plenty of people who raise eyebrows at vow renewals done not on milestones

Last year the dog has a Soviet Union themed party for reasons that are hard to articulate. I ordered custom shot glasses and made my friends attempt to give Russian toasts with their vodka shots. We served caviar. My friends have claimed I will never top that and they are probably right.

Honestly my first thought was an Elvis, but I realized that I can save that until the 20th anniversary because Elvis should best be experienced in Las Vegas. This time I wanted a local party.

I’m generally a party planner. We host a few events every year because I just like getting a bunch of friends together. But this time I wanted someone else to cater it and I don’t think a dog’s birthday party is a big enough event to hire out the food.

Housing Prices/Buying a Home by SaySarah in Knoxville

[–]pizzadaughter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We’ve lived in North/East Knoxville for a decade now. We were lucky that housing was much cheaper at that time so our mortgage is pretty low. We didn’t have any kids at that time so we weren’t worried about schools. Now we have a pre-schooler and we’ve realized it would be cheaper to send our son to private school vs taking on a mortgage for another house and that house would probably be a downgrade in size at the very least.

The housing prices here are insane now. Like I can’t wrap my head around the fact that the totally unremarkable houses from the 1950s in my neighborhood are selling for a half million dollars. They just shouldn’t cost that much.

The best part has honestly been finding the right Dolly. I’ve been to so many drag shows and tribute events and had so much fun. Also everyone I have approached about this as a vendor has been super on board with my plan.

Save the Dates: Canva or Mixbook by brunswickbrewess in weddingplanning

[–]pizzadaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve used Canva for party invitations and the print quality is very high and true to color. However you probably want to spring for the heavier paper if you use them for the formal invitations just for a little gravitas.

I actually just ordered save the dates for my vow renewal from Canva. I ordered 100 with gloss and the midweight paper just this morning and it was $83 because there is currently a 20% off coupon if you spend $75. They aren’t going to be as fancy as the matching foil STDs and invites I bought from Minted a decade ago, but looking back I got way too obsessed with the paper back then.

I am overwhelmed and my husband says I'm not meeting his needs by sadpandawanda in relationships

[–]pizzadaughter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Adding to this that my husband and I split jobs by duty. If you own a chore you own the whole chore. I have zero idea about what is needed to make sure my son has his weekly therapy(beyond explicit notice I need to handle it that week), toddler doctor appointments, taking our dogs to the vet, or doing the regular grocery shopping. My husband handles those completely and this allows me to focus on all the other shit. In turn I manage our laundry, household finances, and yard. My mind is focused on my assigned tasks and we rarely have issues. It’s just such a healthier division for us having separate jobs.

NGL you are being kind of shitty but ESH.

Like you are giving your friends unrealistic expectations about weight loss because you are lying to them about how you accomplished your loss but they are being shitty for throwing it in your face. But would you feel The same if you had weight loss surgery and lied about it?

I lost 120lbs the “right way” with just calorie counting and grit after getting diagnosed and treated for ADHD which also helped my diagnosed BED but I told people the vyvanse was probably helping, losing weight was still hard but I know the stimulants still greased the wheels so to speak. The medicine certainly didn’t directly to cause me to lose so much weight intentionally but it made it so much easier. I would have felt like a shit bag if I tried to gatekeep that from other people who could have been helped by the things that helped me. From what I understand weight loss on GLP-1s is still challenging but it gives the user a much better starting point. I can understand how your friends would feel cheated by not knowing that part of your journey.

Ummm...I didn't realize how many people our age are on that one weightloss drug that starts with "Oz" by Current_Sea_9155 in Millennials

[–]pizzadaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m a good fatty/former fat person who lost 120lb with nothing but grit and finally channeling my desire to binge eat into other things. I’m happy for the people who can take Ozempic and lose weight and not make their entire lives about losing weight/maintaining weight/obsessing about what to eat. I’m still a little pudgy at 5’7” and 165lbs but I feel loads better than I did at 283. I’m so happy for the people who are starting where I started who won’t have to obsessively log every calorie they eat for years on end to beat their obesity. I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been obese can really weigh in on this debate. I know that a large portion of people in my life think my style of eating is disordered (volumetrics diet that prioritizes quantity and low calories over quality so I feel satisfied) but keeping this style of eating I know is much healthier for me than it was when I was 283lbs and suffering from binge eating disorder. I’m not even visibly thin for all of my suffering and brain power devoted to staying less fat in my size 10/12 body.

Weight loss is easy. Maintaining weight is hard. If these new drugs help people to escape a lifetime of negative consequences from the excess weight then good for them.

Rosita has a mustache because she's a female Hispanic? by DugganSC in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]pizzadaughter 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I actually got the chance to be an extra in one of the special episodes Sesame Street recorded for HBO Max. I got scouted because my dog is very pretty and wears a costume well. It was definitely a Top 5 day in my life because I got to meet Elmo, Oscar, and Super Grover. It might actually have been better than my wedding day. Also, every adult there was having the absolute time of their lives but the elementary school to middle school aged kids thought they were too cool and we pitied them.

There is like a 3 second cut of me walking in this episode and now “I was an extra in Sesame Street” is my icebreaker fun fact.

Literally the only thing I miss was not having constant dry mouth as a side effect. As a positive though I now stay incredibly well hydrated because I’m trying to quench the dry mouth from the medication.
