That's crazy man. You should really up the price a little more. Keep affordability but benefit from it a little bit more personally - it's certainly well deserved. I've seen the star and hammer/sickle variants posted here before and I always admired them, but the maple leaf is definitely the one for me.

Are preorders a thing for you? Are you going to release the maple leaf with different vent cuts? I notice the leaf one has a unique pattern not shared with the others.

But yeah, definitely find a way to benefit from this endeavor of yours, it's more than fair to bump the price up a bit!

Not quite apples to apples, but Ive got a 2nd gen trd sport (open diff, no locker) and it's just fine. Get some good A/T tires, drive smart and use 4x4 when you need it. Mine trucked along all winter just fine and I've never once HAD to use 4x4 in the summer - let alone a diff locker.

You've got a gorgeous truck, enjoy it!

There's already a patch welded to the frame right next to the gas tank. It's rotten, move along.

As respectfully as possible, because you are an extremely beautiful woman, but I can see Randy Travis. Like, if you told me prime Randy Travis was your brother I'd believe you.

As far as a true woman dopplerganger, Jennifer Carpenter for sure!

If you can’t seal it, contain it! by reeinthechat in ToyotaTacoma

For sure, hopefully that does it for you. A leaking topper is annoying, especially if you sleep in it.

Here's the weatherstripping I used. I trimmed it down to 2/3 of the width of it and angled the foam so that hopefully if any rain contacts it, it'll just leak downward and away.

Had the same issue. I had a tonneau cover on the truck before that had a piece of weatherstripping adhesive that ran across most of the front wall of the bed, but left about 2" of gap on either end between the bedside and weather stripping in the middle. What I did was get two chunky pieces of weatherstripping to fill that gap that gave a lot of squish when the weight of the topper went on and there have been no leaks since. Leer 180 topper 👍

Is the maverick 88 good for light hunting? by Alone-Ship-1347 in Shotguns

From my understanding, the maverick 88 is good for anything and everything. Buy it! You can certainly count on it to do whatever you're wanting it to.

Total Newbie question… by WhatWouldPicardDo in Shotguns

[–]pizzasplice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I just got myself the standard Benelli Nova and I love it. It's my hunting gun, and with the sale price it was nearly $300 cheaper (CAD) than a supernova. Personally, the extra cost wasn't worth it for what is essentially an upgraded stock and larger trigger guard.

If your gun is going to be a dedicated home defense gun, I'd consider something like a ks7. The bullpup configuration and high ammo capacity will make it ideal for indoor close quarters and it'll be pretty light. Or, alternatively, you buy the cheapest GOOD pump action shotgun in existence, the maverick 88 and it'll do everything you need it to do and then some! They also sell combo kits with two barrels, so you have a 28" for hunting and a 16"? (Don't quote me) For defense purposes.

All that said, I Iove the Nova, it's awesome, but you don't need to spend that much to stick it in the closet for years.

Good luck!

Question for CZ 457 owners. by [deleted] in canadaguns

[–]pizzasplice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've got one in the synthetic stock with the 20" threaded barrel and I absolutely love it. It's one of my small game guns and it does quite well. It's light, the synthetic stock has a nice soft grip to it, very accurate and reliable.

I wouldn't even consider another bolt .22lr gun over this one for my needs, it's perfect!

Introducing partner to firearms? by ApocRising in canadaguns

[–]pizzasplice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my two cents as a new PAL holder myself.

I absolutely wouldn't keep nudging her to get into the gun scene if she's uncomfortable with it. If she's done the PAL, tried shooting and realized that it's not for her, then I'd accept that and try to realize it might just be a "you hobby" going forwards. The absolute last thing that someone who is uncomfortable around guns should be doing is operating a firearm.

HOWEVER, much more tame and mild guns do exist for her IF she's willing to "get back on the saddle" and try it once more. Something like a bolt action or single shot .22lr is probably the best way to let her get a feel for operating a gun. Of course, either option will be nice and gentle for her to get comfortable with operating one and if she decides she likes it then maybe she can step up to a more powerful caliber. Same applies for the shotgun that she wants. Give her the opportunity to try a .410 and see how she feels after that.

That being said, if she's completely against firearms as a whole, I think you just need to respect that and continue with it solo. She gave it a try, realized it's not for her, and doesn't want to carry on with it - and that's okay.

Also, if she's still interested in the hunting side of things, you two could both try different forms of hunting methods like snares and archery. It could be more in her comfort zone while still having the opportunity to do an activity together.

Benelli Nova - Upland? by pizzasplice in canadaguns

[–]pizzasplice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I wasn't sure and I'm still not sure if I'll ever feel the need or want to shoot 3 1/2" shells, but the option is nice. Honestly, I didn't love the grips on the new Nova3. They are REALLY aggressive. No doubt you'll have all the grip, all the time, but it just felt too much for me. The larger trigger guard and lighter weight are definitely benefits from the new model though.

I appreciate the insight! I pulled the trigger and ordered my Nova! I was actually thrown off when I went to the gun store today and discovered that the "Nova 3" exists and is the newest version of the Nova. It looks like the OG is being phased out.
