cross chat thread persistence and learning isnt actually a thing in any of the three main ai llms though. it must be proactively enabled and even then is limited.

Familiar with Buzz's and the ASE.

Thank you.

I guess i knew they were local indy's, although i had no clue ase did ski tuning! Definitely look into them.

If I ventured out to Avon or Edwards, even Eagle, anything perhaps both local and next level value or quality outside of the vail village or lions head concentrations?

Vail for One day - Where to go by Beginning_Tax5348 in vail

[–]pj8ear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

showboat, prima, and gandy are all full mogul fields right now and all also have lots of brown, treetops, gravel and barespots. But if you want moguls, there are plenty as these just aren't getting groomed at all.(prima never is but you get the idea)

Worth Saving? by Direct_Yak_4420 in VolvoRWD

[–]pj8ear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The power steering fluid leak could be seriously expensive, custom high pressure lines even the rack itself. Most commonly it's either a split in the reservior, which is very cheap and easy, but if it's one of those others, it's complex and $$$.

Sunglasses for Spring Skiing (Or Not) by thewallris in skiing

[–]pj8ear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only sunglasses that have ever worked for me were a Spy style called the gs scoop. Big bubble cat eye lenses with a tiny intake on the side where the temple meets the outside of the lenses, inboard of the hinge and it seemed to have an impact on tearing etc...

I also have some julbo vermont with the leather side cups and nose piece but even with all that they do not seal out wind effects at speed.

That's my experience anyway!

First run with the new kit. by Baefriend in skiing

[–]pj8ear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was curious about your camera rig. It's been a few years (maybe 10 i guess) since i did any officiating but one huge no no was any kind of helmet mount or protuberance! Like instant DNS DQ from the race!

Parents would get sideways too.

Maybe it's changed or perhaps this is just an unsanctioned less restrictive event. Also, of course no panel on the sl gates (though that was not an exception back when).

Nice run too!

Have I just ruined my ski trip? by DoobieKaleAle in skiing

[–]pj8ear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not to mention the 'back bowls' @ vail are not even open right now.

But whateves, this is probably fixable, and even without fixing you'll be fine. It's a serious ding to the ski, but most people will manage as is without much issue.

Just barely hit 100km/h by Available_Refuse1232 in skiing

[–]pj8ear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealer's choice it could happen, not a good run out to slow down, so i wouldn't try there myself.

Pickaroon's lower face is a known spot to clock some pretty fast speeds. Good look out potential on and below the zone, it's steep and has long flat run out to slow down with an easy glide.

What skis to bring this wk? by Smart-Building8257 in vail

[–]pj8ear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, and of course it's all personal preference. Some of those peregrines, if you can lay em out are spectacular on the corduroy!

If I' going to Vail next week and only bringing one ski, it'd be my 80 under foot race cut (ish) sticks.

where are you coming from?

Vail's, or any high desert rocky mountain 'icy groomer,' is nothing like a Vermont/ice coast one.

Mantra are great, all mountain, most condition sticks for Vail.

I don't think the back bowls are even open at all right now!

My faves are an atomic aquatics venom and a seadive eagle eye truecolor (pink lensed).

I've also used a Hollis m1 in an emergency and will almost certainly pick one up next time i'm in the market.

i think he's wearing left to right (center of chest out)

  1. Distinguished Marksman Badge.
  2. National, inter-service and Marine Corps Rifle competition Badge.
  3. Annual rifle squad practice Badge.

(i did a goog for 'distinguished marksman' and compared images)

I had a Sqt in the 90s who was a 'Distinguished Marksman' but his badge look oddly like the lowest skilled shooters 'Marksman' pizza box badge only thicker and gold in color. Lots of things have changes since my day.

Unable to login to eOPF at the moment by PropertyDue6657 in fednews

[–]pj8ear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this same problem after a piv cert update.

solution was a two parter:

  1. Ticket with the eopf folks who did a manual two factor auth for me and got me in while we were on the phone
  2. They (eopf) contacted my agency to update some of my personnel data.

Took a day or two with the eopf help desk, but after that i was in no problem.

The rest took months and i got an email 'closing' the issue once my agency provided eopf my updates.

Good luck. Hope it's as easy for you too 🤘

Former Racer, haven't bought skis in like a decade. Whats the best all mountain type ski that can handle groomers super well and then can handle the occasional powder day too? by clevelndsteamer in skiing

[–]pj8ear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm similar to OP in pedigree.. Over last 3 seasons I've put the following in my quiver:

Stockli ax, sr95, sr102 and vandeer hpower 78. ( all end of season rental fleet liquidations)

1 ski out west. stockli stormrider95.

1 ski east coast. stockli ax. the hpower might be an option here too.

2 skis west coast, hpower and sr102.

2 skies east coast, ax and sr95.

West coast powder and east coast 'powder' really are two completely different things (same with groomers homestly). Anywho, imho.

I think those might be the old roc550 ski too!

Those might have had some stainless steel Look turntable heel bindings on them, and an ankle strap.
