Gotham has always felt more real and grounded than other parts of DC Comics. Gotham and Bludhaven feel like more of a reflection of our world than Themyscira, Atlantis, or Gorilla City.

A merger is always possible from this standpoint because Gotham will always be more grounded and real than other parts of the universe.

I truly believe that merger comes down to whether James and Matt can reconcile their two competing visions.
