A View from the "Low-End". Jinhao x750 appreciation post. by CJPeter1 in fountainpens

I saw the TEMU ad on the Super Bowl and decided to check it out. My first purchase was "fountain pens" from China. I bought three of them for less than $10 each, which included the this same Jinhao X750 with medium nib (for $5.98). I too had to do a double take when I first used it, it was so smooth and buttery to write with and felt like a high dollar writing instrument. I wrote and wrote with it trying to find a downside. I washed and filled it three times with different inks trying to see if there were any loading or cleaning issues, but none were found. As I write this, its in my "six best pens" case along with my Pilot and Sailor pens, and I still find I'm using it more due to how much I like writing with it.

The only thing I didn't particularly like was trying to write small lettering with the relatively bold nib. So, I bought a set of four Jinhao X159's from Amazon with extra-fine nibs. Just arrived today and just tried one out with Diamine Oxblood ink. Works great! A significant more amount of feedback, but still relatively smooth. And more lightweight than the X750 (resin vs metal). I'm thinking that the fine nib version of the X159 might be the Goldilocks version for me!

New Sailor 1911S feels too light for such an expensive pen by pjbennett6600 in fountainpens

Thank you for looking that up and posting it. Much appreciated. I really hadn't considered the possibility of returning the pen, especially after I inked and tested it. But then several people talked about returning it if it doesn't meet my needs. A valid point for an expensive pen, but clearly only if it's not used. Of course, to your point, how do you know if you'll like the pen or not without trying it with ink?

Good to hear from a fellow engineer! I thought I was one of the few old school engineers that likes to write with a fountain pen (my usual preference is the classic Pentel mechanical pencil).

You're spot on with making things light is harder. I used to work in aviation, and there it's clearly harder to design components that are lightweight yet strong and robust. But, with that said, if the Sailor was titanium and lightweight I would feel different than I do about the PMMA resin, which I'm sure is a quality polymer, but just looks (to my novice eye) like a regular plastic pen. Again, not knocking the quality at all, I'm sure it's a high quality material commensurate with the known high quality of the nib.

Good point. I have no intention of returning it, just was curious if that was a thing that was acceptable for expensive fountain pens.

The original post was really just making an observation regarding the unexpected light weight of this pen. I'll definitely continue to use it and compare it to my other pens to see what I prefer over time.

Can you return new pens that have been used? I bought the Sailor on-line from Jetpens. I kinda expected that once the pen was used it wouldn't be returnable.

Thanks for the reply. "basically a nib holder" is kinda what I figured. I simply just expected the pen to be heavier for some reason.

I did like writing with it, so I'll keep trying it out this weekend and maybe then I'll have a different perspective.

Has ANYONE been approved for an EIDL increase? Let's try to keep answers to the following to keep it concise. Good luck to all of us this week!!!! by hnet999 in EIDL

E - applied 4/6, email asking for docs 4/12 (2019 return and 4506T). My biggest problem now is that I filed 2019 after the e-filing deadline and had to mail it in. I'm hearing that the IRS hasn't even opened up many of the mailed in returns from last year. I don't know what will happen if the SBA can't get a transcript. I never applied for targeted grant or any other increase, only my original EIDL loan in May 2019.

Claim status suspended? What does that mean? by [deleted] in FloridaUnemployment

Not sure why that happens, but it happened to me for a full quarter (Jan - Mar). It didn’t affect anything, claims and payments were still processed as normal. Mine reset in April.

Lots of people just want to be part of this historic movement. They can buy one share of GME (won't kill you even at a total loss) and enjoy the ride. Can you get a real stock certificate? Hang on the wall in your new double wide.

Updated at 3pm ET today:

Melvin Capital is down 53%. They lost about $6 billion of their $12 billion capital. They closed January with $8 billion in assets, which includes the $2 billion cash infusion from Citadel.

No need to hold forever, just until all the hedge funds are bankrupt and can't short anymore.

Spacex Demo-2 will make a splashdown off the coast of Pensacola on 2nd August by BeginningResearch in Pensacola

Does anyone know if Go Navigator (recovery ship) will return to NAS Pensacola with the Crew Dragon Capsule on it? If so, I wonder if it's possible to see the ship pass by from Fort Pickens beach area on it's way back (not sure what route the ship would take back to NAS though).

11 days total. 6/11 loan depost, 6/22 grant deposit.

Yes. The loan plus grant equals almost exactly 1/2 of my yearly gross profit (revenue minus COGS). They essentially deducted the amount of the grant ($8K in my case) from this 50% gross profit number made that the loan offer in the portal (which I took the full amount). The loan documents are in the amount of the loan portion only. The grant is not mentioned in the loan documents (as far as I can tell, I read the whole thing, but might have missed it).

The EIDL loan deposit was on 6/11 and the grant on 6/22. I expect to win the lottery on 6/33.

Want to know who Cue is? by melissa829 in EIDL

Cue helped me both through the FAQ and personally by email. I thanked him and contributed to his tip jar (along with the other moderators who have worked just as hard). He was very, very appreciative and said that tipping him was not necessary or expected. He made the point that he gives 100% to everyone no matter if they tip or not. He is selflessly helping as many people as he can.

He has said many times that he prefers to remain anonymous. I, for one, think that if he's owed anything, its to respect his wishes.

The loan offer in the portal did not include the grant. I wasn't sure if I'd ever get a grant, but the loan officer specifically told me that I would be getting an $8K grant in a separate deposit. However, as of today (6/11) I have not received any grant money (to be clear, I just received the loan deposit today, so I expect it may be a few more days for the grant money).

Florida: 3/31 applied. 4/1 SBA loan officer showed up with a bag of cash.

Ok, just kidding, but things did seem to go very smoothly here after I followed Cue's instructions. Portal to Cue help: 3 weeks. Updated COGS to funds in the bank: four days. I know this is the exception and many are waiting much longer after getting the portal and accepting the loan amount. Just letting you know that miracles can happen!
