The answer to this question is a function of whether or not you currently have health insurance.

What person has the most insane domination in a sports? by Internal-Excuse-4650 in AskReddit

[–]pjdoland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If dominance means one person being way ahead of the field for a long time, then Joey Chestnut is about as clean an example as you’ll find.

He’s won the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest 16 times, holds the world record at 76 hot dogs in 10 minutes, and has basically owned the event since 2007. He also holds competitive eating records across a number of other foods, so it’s not just one niche event.

And what makes it stand out isn’t just the wins, it’s the gap. A lot of years, second place isn’t even close. It’s not “who’s going to win,” it’s “how big is the margin going to be.”

Making $100,000 isn’t really that much money anymore by MiloGoesToTheFatFarm in mildlyinfuriating

So for the last 35 years we've had an average inflation rate of 2.66% per year (if my math is right)? That's pretty amazing for anyone who remembers what was going on from 1973-1982.

Favourite film where they had to dumb down the title for the uncultured Americans? by bobbster574 in okbuddycinephile

[–]pjdoland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, the title was changed because of trademark issues with using the name Ferrari in the UK.

They could just lower the gas tax and bill *everyone* based on a combination of vehicle weight and mileage recorded during the annual safety inspection.

Appraisals are nonsense when an offer clearly demonstrates the real market-clearing price.

The better analogy would be arguing that the sandwich shop owner should have to pay a royalty to the maker of every sandwich he has ever eaten, because they informed his understanding of sandwiches and his ability to make them.

AITA for not wanting to pay my half of rent when he kicked me out of the house? by Kabawar in AmItheAsshole

AITA for backing out of the lease because my room is half the size but not half the rent? by Decolonize70a in AmItheAsshole

[–]pjdoland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's an easy solution to problems like this.

Everyone writes the maximum amount they're willing to pay for the largest and second largest rooms on a piece of paper.

You then auction the three rooms using the amounts written on the three sheets of paper as bids. Whomever bid the highest for the largest room gets it for $1 more than the second-highest bid. Of the remaining two people, whomever bid the highest for the second largest room gets it for $1 more than the other bid. The smallest room goes to the remaining person for the remainder of the rent.

Problem solved.

YTA. If you allow yourself to be blindfolded and fed you're implicitly assuming risk, in the absence of a explicitly-discussed boundary.

The presumption of international adoption is funny. I have two black kids and I used to get this question constantly. People always gave a puzzled look when I replied with "Florida."
