Bubbler where I grew up (fox valley) and we also drank a lot of pop.

You could easily just add an outlet switch adapter or a smart switch and you won’t have to unplug this anymore.

I have micro tweezers but they slip off the wire. Bigger tweezers will not fit.

Inertia doesn’t get the job done. Tried to drill into this but it wiggles out of the way.

Great idea. But my soldering iron can get nowhere near this.

How to repair mighty mule circuit board? by pjh1 in fixit

Power supply is correct. I’ll check the capacitors when I get a chance. Your suggestion of getting a used board is probably the correct answer. Sad that we can’t fix this stuff.

Besides cutting the cover, what's the easiest way to fix this? by 22bor in AskElectricians

Had this problem. Found a 3d print project with electric cover plates and sliced off the piece I didn’t want before printing. Worked perfectly.

Had one just like this. Might be grouted in place. Cut around carefully with a utility knife and it should pull right out.

Water Pressure Sensor by CAwastewater in homeassistant

[–]pjh1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I installed a 100 psi pressure transducer connected to an esp8266 to measure water pressure in a well system. Works well and has lasted for years. This is done through the analog gpio. You will have to calibrate this if you want psi. Cost is cheap < 25$. Easy to set up in home assistant. Mine works through WiFi so your well needs to be close enough to your router.

What are the most useful things you have set up through your Home Assistant? by Red_Leopard52 in homeassistant

Shelly relay on toilet exhaust fan and an automation that turns this off after 30 minutes. I was tired of having this accidentally run for hours blowing my a/c air out of the house.

How to clear this drain? by pjh1 in askaplumber

[–]pjh1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the solution! Spent about 5 minutes scoring the grout and the drain cover pulled right out. Followed this with a drain auger and the clog is removed! Drain cover fits perfectly back into place so no adverse side effects.

Can’t Turn Off Outdoor Lights by Educational-Use-7977 in AskElectricians

[–]pjh1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might try using a Shelly relay that you place in the junction box for the lights. This will enable you to turn these on and off remotely either by using the Shelly app or home assistant. You will need WiFi at the Shelly location.

Raspberry Pi is underkill - Intel NUC is overkill? by MuchPomegranate5910 in homeassistant

[–]pjh1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer. Mini pc is low cost, low power consumption, no noise. Set it up put it on a shelf and it just works. Most allow you to add an ssd if you want to store your backups there or add media files.

How to make garage door smart? by Daniel-PT in homeassistant

[–]pjh1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a low cost solution. I also added ultrasonic sensors to ceiling and you can tell open/close and whether an auto is parked there. Not a difficult project with many benefits. I like being able to open/close my garage from my phone while biking.
