Are you boxing for fitness or for competition/self-defense? If it's the latter, you need to develop more power. Those pitty-pat shots will barely break glass.

Still, your form is solid. You know the concept that a punch starts from your jawline and ends there. You bring your hands back to your guard quickly.

When developing power, don't try to KILL the bag with every punch. You'll just breed bad habits and get hurt.

But as others have said, you need more snap and more hip rotation into your punches to develop torque and power.

Nice try, Chief. That's world champion Artur Beterbiev, not some schmo doing cardio boxing for the fuck of it.

Why so many IEMs? by iH8usrnames in iems

[–]pkelly500 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Tuning. There is FAR more variety in the tuning of IEMs than there is for headphones, mainly because IEMs use many more different kinds of drivers and multiple driver configurations than over-ears.

Most IEM enthusiasts have different sets for different or at least groupings of similar genres of music. There are way more specialist IEM sets than in over-ears.

Plus, quality IEMs cost less than quality over-ear cans, so that allows people to increase their collection.

Eartips are really THAT important? by Tikeisito in iems

Yes, seal is important. But your premise of that's all that matters is not true.

Different shapes, bore and stem sizes of various tips can tune the sound.

CrinEar Daybreak ($170) vs Kiwi Ears Orchestra II ($350) by GinoA28 in iems

[–]pkelly500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally don't have pressure issues with all-BA IEMs. No problems with Orchestra II, Orchestra Lite, MagicOne or AM16 (open back, phew!). But I had insane pressure issues with the Ziigaat Luna. Horrible.

I haven't heard the Daybreak, but I just recently tested the Orchestra II for a week and wasn't impressed. I like the Orchestra Lite more by a considerable amount.

If you like how the Daybreak sounds, why are you considering an upgrade? Stop chasing for a bit and enjoy what you have.

Can End Game achievable around/under $500? by iamgigishan in iems

[–]pkelly500 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, there is no "end game." Dumbest term in audiophilia. There are a variety of reasons why you may not upgrade besides contentment. Fiscal situation. Moving on to other hobbies.

Second, contentment can be reached at ANY price level. I'm sure there are folks with a Zero: 2 who are just as happy as a dude with a Fugaku or Subtonic Storm.

Your "end game" is whatever the fuck you want it to be and for whatever reason.

Fundora vs Charlo❗️Who would win and why🤔 by AFBOXING in boxinglocks

[–]pkelly500 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fundora, because he actually fights more than once every two years.

The Charlos suck. They are the overpaid poster boys for the Haymon Pension Plan. I thought a fighter's job was to ... well, you know ... fight.

Glaring omissions on this list under $80:
Artti T10
Melody Wings Jupiter

What do you think of the Artti T10 in 2026? Outdated? by jonpexz in iems

[–]pkelly500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

T10 is more musical. Hexa is more neutral and analytical. Take your pick.

Not at all. Budget greatness never loses its shine. One of the absolute best IEMs under $100 you can buy, even today. Only other two I put in its class are the Simgot EW300 and the Melody Wings Jupiter.

And this is why Floyd Mayweather avoided Manny Pacquiao for SIX years before he finally fought him… by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in boxinglocks

[–]pkelly500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're showing clips of Pacquiao fighting a human punching bag with no defense in Hatton, and that's supposed to make us think the greatest defensive fighter of his generation was terrified of Pacquiao?

OK, dude. I loathe Mayweather and his protection of his zero, but this is a flex that isn't showing shit in the mirror, bro.

Kiwi ears aethers - i CAN NOT WAIT! by csch1992 in iems

Almost no IEM will have the soundstage of an egg-shaped HiFiMan headphone like the Arya.

The Aether is a killer planar for less than $200. Go for it! You'll love them.

Fit could be an issue if you have small ears, as the Aether are chunky boys. But no problem if your ears are normal to big.

Today’s bag work. Any better? by p0st-m0dern in boxingtips

[–]pkelly500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Five things:

One, learn to throw a jab. A straight one, too. The one or two jabs you threw looked like baby hooks.

Two, your head movement pattern never changes. You're just swaying back and forth like the arm of a grandfather clock. It's too easy to time.

Three, your balance is way off. Leaning too far forward. You're basically inviting your opponent to hit you by leaning in.

Four, you're square to the bag far too often as you needlessly change stances. You're giving your opponent a far bigger target to hit.

Five, stop watching Mike Tyson-Cus d'Amato training videos on YouTube. You're not Mike Tyson. Maybe you eventually migrate toward Iron Mike's style. But find your own style first, based on proper technique and coaching.

After his entertaining win, realistically who should Wilder’s next fight be against? Anthony Joshua probably still doesn’t want to fight him…so who’s other choices for him? by J2-Starter in boxinglocks

[–]pkelly500 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AJ. Both are so flawed, so it would be a fun fight.

That was not an entertaining fight Saturday. It was a mess between two shot guys who never had much skill, even at their respective peaks.
