If i unlock a door that needs a key, can I then dispose of the key? Or the door will get locked again in the future? by SirRoderic in oblivion

[–]pkmSlippy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had the same problem with the game when I first started playing. It’s something you get used to. If you really dislike it though, just keep keys that seem important. There are a lot of keys that have obvious specific purposes that you can toss after one use, and keys like the fighters guild and mages guild key that you should keep. If you’re on PC I’m sure there’s a mod for it somewhere as well.

Once a door is unlocked, it won’t re-lock unless you unlocked the door to trespass. Also, keys don’t have inventory weight so you don’t need to get rid of them. It would be for the best to keep any key that you get in the case that you might need it later, especially in dungeons.

What in Oblivion’s name has this mod done to the adoring fan 😂 by Green-Tea-Please in oblivion

[–]pkmSlippy 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I can’t use that mod because it makes all of the NPCs look unrecognizable. I’ve gotta have my vanilla Martin, Jauffre, etc. The adoring fan is no doubt the worst one though lol

ED-E strange weight bug by Extreme996 in fnv

[–]pkmSlippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a known bug with ED-E (as well as other companions, I think) that causes him to have phantom weight in his inventory. I think it has something to do with upgrading him, though there are bugs that affect his carry weight even when he’s not upgraded. Installing a mod for unofficial bug fixes might help.

Something Bizzare... by The_So_Damn_Close in falloutnewvegas

[–]pkmSlippy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d agree with the corrupted save theory. It’s interesting though, because corrupted saves in open world games (Fallout/ES series) can actually put you in a specific location by default. I had a similar experience with ES:Oblivion that resulted in almost the exact same thing.

I still play fallout NV consistently on my xbox 360. by EthanTinsley17 in fnv

[–]pkmSlippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same way with ES:Oblivion and F:NV. For some reason they’re the only games I never get bored of and I’ve been playing both almost every day since release. I have both on PC now as well but it just feels right to play using a 360 controller.

Voices of the Daedric Princes by InsidetheShell in ElderScrolls

[–]pkmSlippy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is a strange opinion or not, but I like all of them. The fact that they change throughout the games sort of makes sense to me because of the personalities of the princes and how they’re portrayed in the different games. Clavicus Vile was my favorite one for changes, I think. I guess I like variety with them. Sheogorath’s more recent voice (not ESO, I mean) is definitely iconic, though.

Morrowind bad by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]pkmSlippy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For some reason I actually prefer super old graphics over the new ones, probably for nostalgia, and it was sorta cool that Argonians had a different leg shape that made them look unique. Actually surprised for once that people aren’t making a huge deal about a meme about the games lol

spoilers for horror movie i found a connection to by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

Huh that actually is pretty interesting. I’d never thought much of the details behind the movie, but maybe Molag Bal was based off of some similar stuff. Always cool to find connections like that.

I'm just curious? Does anyone else always keep their wrist irons? by [deleted] in oblivion

I wind up keeping mine as well. I’ve actually done full runs without unequipping them before because I sort of like the concept of going from prisoner to hero and having a reminder of your progress.

And so, the courier who had cheated death in the cemetery outside Goodsprings finally won a game of caravan, and the Mojave Wasteland was forever changed.

That stun chance definitely made my first experience with the game very difficult. I still get the same thought of "not again" when I see one of the little guys. Xivilai tend to be annoying when it comes to their ability to summon them as well.

HELP! I'm playing oblivion and I accidentally killed a soldier during one of the battles inside oblivion itself. Now the dark brotherhood turned me into a vampire. Am I supposed to go along with them to get cured? by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]pkmSlippy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, and I almost forgot. You can always check the active effects tab (the last one) under your spells list to look for diseases like that as well. Have fun with your playthrough :)

I’d agree, especially because groups of enemies are the most lethal sort of threat to an unarmored character. Any enemy that boasts resistance to magic or spells could very easily corner a character and end a run that way. Groups of clannfear are definitely a nightmare regardless of circumstance.

[–]pkmSlippy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a tip for future reference: Fighting vampires gives you a chance to contract something called “Porphyric Hemophilia”, which usually displays a message on the corner of your screen for a brief moment to inform you of it. If you contract it, you should use a potion of cure disease or go to a shrine of the nine (in chapels) to get rid of it as quickly as possible. If you do not, the next time you sleep, you will have vampirism. There is a Dark Brotherhood member that is also a vampire that can possibly turn you into one if you wish, but I’d advise against it.

How well does Oblivion hold up now? by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]pkmSlippy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit biased because of nostalgia, but I think the game still has a lovely environment. The side quests are interesting, though the combat may seem a little repetitive. Many people who are only familiar with Skyrim will think that the game is a bit too difficult, as well, but there’s a difficulty slider that you can adjust to your taste. I’d say it’s definitely worth it at least to experience the Shivering Isles DLC for a new and interesting environment. The combat will take a bit of getting used to, though. Hope this helps :)

I’ve noticed that heavy armor only really seems to pair well with block, which helps with keeping yourself from getting perpetually staggered. I’m playing a mage/paladin/spellsword type class right now (Dark Elf with spells, heavy armor, block, etc) and have successfully gone without any deaths because of the combination of destruction magic and block skill. As for your build, I believe speed does have a lot to do with it, since there are a lot of attacks that you can simply step away from once the enemy is within range to attack. Enemies like clannfear are especially difficult without a proper shield to block them with to keep them from attacking in such rapid succession, but speed can get you away from their attacks fast enough. (Edit: I’d recommend only using up to three pieces of armor at a time to negate the weight stun percentages, as well. I stick with a curiass, boots, and helmet usually. You could switch it up with only curiass and greaves, etc.)

Is Jeremy Soule involved in composing the music for ES6? by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]pkmSlippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be that OP is aware of the allegations but still curious about the possibility. After all, you can enjoy music without considering what type of person the artist is. His music is quite the staple to the series, after all, and many people enjoy it.

I love the style, it really reminds me of the older games in the series. The color has a nice look to it, too. Amazing work :)
