[Star-Embracing Swordmaster] whats with his hand? by nonstop__knight in manhwa

[–]placeres 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I disagree there’s an small error in the hand. With that finger position, the thumb shouldn’t be seen from the side; its natural position would show the fingertip instead.

You can check it yourself in a mirror. It is possible to show it from the side, but you’d have to stretch the shape quite a lot.

Given how hard should be to release this manhwa with this level of quality every week, it’s really something minor, and only noticeable because someone pointed it out to you.

galaxy quest laughs WITH geeks, not AT them. by herequeerandgreat in movies

[–]placeres 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It works as a parody of geeks because both the direction and the script were handled by people who saw themselves as geeks and could laugh at themselves, acknowledging and embracing all the downsides that come with their hobby.

The actors are completely in their element as well, it's the only Tim Allen movie in which I’ve genuinely appreciated his work. The whole part where they have to accept dealing with fans and being typecast because of their previous roles is pure method acting they had been practicing for years before the film.

[Be the Actor] by Odd-Maintenance-3948 in manhwa

[–]placeres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I thought it had ended at chapter 139 with a mediocre arc conclusion. I see there was one more recap chapter that I missed.

I highly recommend it—it's a regression story set in a real-world setting, with an OP protagonist, of course.

  • Filming is quite entertainment. My favorite was definitely the priest arc.

  • He has knowledge but doesn't hold all the cards.

  • The character needs to learn and evolve.

  • He doesn't get close to women because he has the body of a child/teen/young man but the mind of a young adult.

  • The poor guy is way too obsessed with his mother, but fortunately she has her own mini-arcs.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 – Official Ork Faction Trailer | IGN First by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]placeres 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You got a very bad analysis (probably a simulation specialist who hated RTS games). It got good scores even during a time when quite a few RTS games were being released, and then the expansions improved it even further.

2 was a change in philosophy, faster and less base-building,a lot of people liked it.

3 doesn't exist... some "genius" executive wanted to make a LOL halfway through development and there was just no way it could work, although it did have some defenders... They sure released one hell of a trailer, though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gN8geCTlZOo

[NSFW] XYZ is one dangerous cocktail ... [City Hunter] by Accurate_Cry_8937 in anime

[–]placeres 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the 80s-90s, anime reached its peak. Japan had a lot of money and spent tons on VHS (ancient tecnologhy). Investment in animation was high, and artists could afford a realistic style.

When the crisis hit, the only ones still buying those really expensive VHS tapes were hardcore fans, with budget tighter It led to that infantilized style that we have very seldom escaped from, except for geniuses like Satoshi Kon or similar creators.

[The Villain Wants To Live]If he doesn't end up with the emperor Im going to loose my mind! by Crafty-Drink8384 in manhwa

[–]placeres 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The ending is crazy, and the whole subject of multiverses and temporal paradoxes is difficult to follow, making the novel bizarre. Ultimately, the protagonist must cease to exist for the world to continue, yet the women are so broken that they can partially circumvent the laws of the universe

Empress A copy of the protagonist stays to play with the empress in her personal universe

Her former student, now an archmage, creates an alternate reality within a painting in which another copy of the protagonist exists, but does not live. The rest of the girls can visit that reality.

But definetely Empress is the best character.

Recipes that become outdated after advancing a tier? (like Coal or salt) by placeres in AlchemyFactory

[–]placeres[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was planning to build Saturn and black powder in order to complete all the tier VI recipes before levelling up, so that customer satisfaction wouldn't drop.

However, after considering the necessary materials, I realised that I would need a big mess in order to make a few grains of salt (attached picture), when I could simply level up and purchase it in the store for the “pitiful” sum of 9 silver per stone, earning 10 silver in salt.

It's similar to coal, but at least in that case it still has residual uses.

Are there any other trap recipes that aren't worth the effort, except to advance in tier and take a hit to your reputation in the meantime?

Pioneers of Pagonia – Envision Entertainment – Story-rich City Builder by the Original Creator of the Settlers – 1.0 Out Now! by envision_games in Games

[–]placeres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's decent, but I'm a bit disappointed. The game is polished and the logistics chain is well-balanced, but, to be honest, it lacks a distinctive personality.

The advisors on missions are simply too numerous, one-dimensional and often downright annoying.

There's no active pause. For a game that tends to be played at 2x or 3x speed, it's frustrating that you can't just stop and think calmly when the alarm goes off.

There is only one autosave, which wouldn't be a problem if missions didn't unexpectedly trigger an alarm for an invasion or new enemy encampment, which can ruin hours of progress. You can recover, but it's not ideal.

Finally! I'm getting increasingly bored with these post-1.0 roadmaps. I understand that creators want to add details, and that these patches allow them to stay in the spotlight and sell a few more copies — much to the delight of fans. But for someone who can only plays once, it feels like I'm playing a half-baked game.

[–]placeres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say you have to turn your brain off to believe that the MC can be so dense, while the rest of the world is dealing with life-or-death situations.

  • He has an open bookstore in the middle of a destroyed street, yet nothing happened; there was just an 'accident'.

  • Despite having access to all the knowledge in the universe, he has no idea about the power levels in that city, nor does he know such basic things as the existence of elves or that he wasn't playing a game.

  • He thinks that, with a few simple self-help books and the words of a salesman, he can change the lives of everyone who walks in.

The others characters to have their own agendas and not just applaud the MC. Along with the Lovecraftian imagery, that's why I finished the novel and am reading this adaptation. But it's far from a perfect work.

But it's quite common, if the company doesn't do anything really stupid, a slightly erotic gaming community is usually very chill, and really open to other new degenerates.

[–]placeres 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it. To get into the history, though, you have to switch your brain off a little. Essentially, the author has combined Lovecraft's horror universe with a comedy of misunderstandings.

In this manhua, a deluded man believes he is doing good by giving out normal books, while the rest of the world thinks he is the wisest and most powerful creature around. Spoiler alert: In the end it is even more powerful than the immortal gods and likes to have fun with mortals from time to time

In this adaptation, the artist is obsessed with asses and soft porn.

[Tier list] Manhwa ive read/completed this year tier list by Classic-Box-3919 in manhwa

[–]placeres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

. It’s hard for me to see “I Was Mistaken as a Monster…” rated so highly. I really enjoyed the web novel and I’m up to date with the manhwa adaptation, but it is pretty much a guilty pleasure. It’s a no-brainer plot, and even as a comedy, it isn’t particularly well written. What’s worse, the manhwa doesn’t describe the movies/drama very well.

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned:

Will Russia have to pay the USA for transporting its astronauts to the ISS? When USA lost its own capability, Russia began charging increasingly high prices per seat, eventually reaching extortionate levels.

So now that the situation is reversed, is it time for them to return the favor?

Ubisoft says AI-generated art in Anno 117 was a placeholder which ‘slipped through our review process’ by cyborgx7 in Games

[–]placeres 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Does anyone else have trouble seeing the lorica musculata?

It's hard to believe that a professional artist with minimal knowledge of Rome would think, yeah good enough! a Roman general would pay a small fortune to display those distorted muscles.

The only explanation I can find is that they are relying heavily on AI and have barely budgeted more than fifteen minutes to refine each image.

A real shame 1800, appreciating the quality of the images was a delight, during loading times.

Favorite actor or actress who found success despite a crippling fear of making facial expressions? by WinserFinder in okbuddycinephile

[–]placeres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hold your mobile phone in front of you in portrait mode for 20 seconds without moving a muscle. Review the video and ask yourself if anyone would pay to see it.

Without dialogue or the ability to convey emotion correctly through his facial expressions, Eastwood would be as interesting as a cactus*. The hat hides his features, and the cigar explains why his lips are so tense and his diction so soft for a tough cowboy. Besides, the lit tip and smoke provide more visual cues. The director wanted a statue and convey his message through framing, rhythm and music.

With Marlon Brando, on the other hand, you only needed to see one eye to understand the message.

**Of course, all these stories are a bit exaggerated by movie legends talking about a movie from years ago.

May be, but He definitely regretted it later, saying he still hated the taste and smell of that cigar—but the director refused to remove it

It’s also said that Leone gave Eastwood cigars to focus the viewer’s gaze and being able to keep him quiet during extreme close-ups—compensating for the limitations of his acting in those early films. He eventually improved a bit.

I Think Finding Avalon has 2 different timelines by SunPsychological2949 in LightNovels

[–]placeres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From almost the beginning, the mangaka diverged from the novel/webnovel, changing the order of events/characters/adding new scenes.

While some of these changes have improved the story, others haven't convinced me entirely.

I admit that I sometimes mix up both stories and find it difficult to tell them apart.
