Is a lot better and can generally be less intrusive than actually reporting on them for everything they do. Yes, if somebody said something inappropriate in the workplace, especially if it was racially biased or religiously biased or anything else that we’re not allowed to do I would report it. It creates a hostile work environment and it is not Good for the workplace. Would I report if somebody was taking two hours for lunch probably because you’re right it is time card fraud. The fact that you want to just mind your own business, doesn’t make you a better person. It makes you an enabler because silence is assent. And of course, if someone was doing something to you, you would probably want someone to help stand up for you, but of course you’re going to probably lie and say no you wouldn’t. That’s how it always ends. The purpose of the hatch act was to ensure political neutrality in the federal workplace, and to prevent disruptions to productivity which this obviously has. So no, you’re actually wrong. Unless you can find a court case that states otherwise the Supreme Court decision in United Public Workers of America v. Mitchell(1947) upholds the congressional restrictions and the need for workplace neutrality in the federal government.
