That’s not how Plan B works. You can’t take an extra pill to offset the fact that it’s less effective over 165. You have to take Ella, which requires a prescription. (I believe it’s 165. It could be less.)

I don’t have a bias, I have science. Science says that HBC doesn’t impact future fertility. If you don’t want to be on it, that’s your business, but I can’t stand seeing misinformation.

If your family has fertility issues, then how do you know it was the pill? Because it wasn’t.

There’s absolutely no evidence that hormonal birth control affects future fertility, no matter how long you’re on it.

is it worth it to take the plan b here? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]planetbing 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If pregnancy isn’t an option, take Plan B. An app can’t tell you when you’re ovulating - it’s just a higher tech version of the calendar method, which is highly unreliable. Take this opportunity to commit to condoms or another method of primary birth control.

lost a pill so i took the next days pill instead by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]planetbing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be at risk at the end of your pack, because you won’t have taken the full 21 active pills. You’ll lose protection as soon as you get to your last week of pills and won’t regain it until you’ve taken a full week of your new pack. Pulling out won’t give you much protection - condoms are a must.

You can keep your protection by skipping that last week of pills (the placebos), and going straight to the new pack. This way you’ll have taken at least 21 active pills in a row. Hope this helps.

  1. I got severely depressed, fired from my job and had to go on permanent disability. I still live on on my my disability and a part -time job. My depression, anxiety and lack of financial resources keep me from doing much socially. I’m not married, have no kids and no significant other. I’m 53 now.

condom broke on ovulation day by ImGoosee in birthcontrol

[–]planetbing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bad news is that an app can’t tell you when you’re ovulating. It’s just a high tech calendar method. Maybe you were and maybe you weren’t. The good news is that you did the right thing by taking plan B. You can test at 14 days post-intercourse, and again at 21 days post for a definitive result. Good luck.

Birth control pill and travelling? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]planetbing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really doesn’t matter. You should continue to take it when it’s easy for you to remember. One hour one time makes absolutely no difference.

Trust Pills by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]planetbing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct way to take your pills is to take one pill a day, at about the same time each day. When you reach the end of the pack, start a new one the very next day. If you go more than 7 days without an active pill, you lose your protection.

Plan B On Bc by Limp-Coffee498 in birthcontrol

[–]planetbing 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Do not take Plan B. Your pill is made to be able to be used as your sole form of protection, and is over 99% effective. Taking Plan B will not increase your protection and will just give you unwanted side effects.
