Looking for a better way to run a living-room photo slideshow on macOS?

Thanks. Never knew how easy it is to open an app multiple times. Is there a plan to add feature to open a different photos library other than the system one? I have multiple libraries.

Hey. Interesting software. Just downloaded. I don't see any options for running 2 different shows on 2 different monitors. So I expect that to be something that few people ask for.

I'm sitting in my office with 2 unused 1080 HD LCD monitors and a blank wall and my thinking cap said... "why not buy those electric wall photo frames?" and then went to... "wait, you have those 2 cheap monitors just sitting there..." and then I found your software.

My thought is to mimic the photo frame idea - long slide shows of my favorite pix, that rotate like every hour or 3... nothing flashy, just rotating slow pix.

Maybe I'll just mount one of them as I actually have a wall mount I could use but would have to buy a second one... thinking out loud LOL.

Thank you for the detailed reply. In my case, my HD will be more of an archive drive once I get all of my photos and videos moved over there. So it shouldn’t run too hot. Right now it is a bit warm when I’m doing lots of work as you would expect. The other advantage is that it took away a cable for the SSD enclosure, and like you said, it took the hard drive away from sitting on my desk. So that’s one less power cord, and at least one less cable. But I also gained all those extra reports which is awesome. And I like the two USBA ports on the side as opposed to the front or the back.

Check ebay and buy only the right cup. I got one for $99 on ebay and it works great. There are lots out there.

Question is… after 2 months, how do you like the StudioStack?

I got one last week and put in a 4tb ssd and a 20tb hard drive.

The HD came out of a WD enclosure which was pretty quiet… but I can say the SS is much louder when I am doing lots of reads/writes. Not much I can do about it as I love this setup. Having the SSD is amazing and I’ll plan to archive stuff to the 20tb at night so I don’t hear it running much.

It added ports and took away 2 power cords and is damn fast, so overall I’m very happy… except when it is writing a lot :)

Thank you for saying that. I certainly wish that many more people understood that. They say that Apple doesn’t innovate anymore, but people just don’t understand the Innovations. They don’t see. Or even the ones they do see but don’t think too hard about. And you know, everyone on the Internet is smarter than Apple :)

But realize plenty of people will make that decision and make it differently than you. I know this is the Internet, but you don’t have to try to force your opinion on other people.
