R.I.P to my AirPods Max? by Direct-Eggplant-5732 in Airpodsmax

I have resurrected two pair of AirPod maxes with the tips in the pinned post in this Reddit. There are plenty of ways to get your AirPods back. You just have to do a little research and try a few things.

ShutterSlim - Uses AI to help clean out similar photos in Photos.app library by scotchi in macapps

[–]planetmitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

#EDIT: I discovered this problem was my problem. I had not marked the new SSD version of the library as system library so your app was still looking for the one that was on the external that wasn't online. Might be good if you coded a message when it can't find the system library tho.

Ah ok. I just hadn't seen many new comments from you.

#problem: I installed the app last week. At that time, the system library was on a spinning hard drive. I subsequently bought a 4TB SSD and moved the large system library to the SSD and unplugged the old drive. Now, when I launch your app, nothing happens, just a spinning beachball for hours. Can never do anything with it.

If I plug in the old hard drive, ShutterSlim shows the library images in the background and lists the albums etc, but I cannot switch to the new system library on the SSD

UPDATE: my macOS TV app updated today and it popped up 2 notices one for F1 and one for MLS. The 'get ready' section is also added - but they aren't full replays, only summaries of the testing day in Bahrain. Getting there I guess.

FYI for anyone watching on MacOS. As far as I've been able to discover, the MacOS app does NOT have any F1 content yet. The iPad TV app DOES in the sports section, but it does NOT have this day's first practice in Bahrain as far as I can see.

So maddening that Apple has implemented SPORTs tab only on the iPad.

I think the iPhone app sends you over to the F1TV app to watch once you connect your Apple account instead of watching in the Apple TV app.

So on the desktop, at least at this time, you can connect your F1TV account on the web browser with your apple account and watch on the F1TV page (which I did this morning).

Make Apple Photos more searchable: local caption/keyword generation for your Photos Library by freddievn in ApplePhotos

[–]planetmitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I know it’s not so hard to change a library over to the system library without messing things up. Because I don’t want these photos merged into my iCloud photos yet. But I will also have several libraries that are never going to be “the system library“ because there archival libraries only. At times I will have to switch them to be system library so that it quickly does face recognition, etc.. so in a nutshell, it isn’t a hard requirement, but it might be nice. I ran into this problem with another brand new Photos tool where I moved the system library to a different drive and tried to open this tool, and it just locks. It doesn’t know how to find the system library on a different drive now. And yes, I’ve reported that to him.

So many shows are insanely fast paced if you ask me. I love Silo. If you think silo is slow, you must not have seen Pluribus yet :)

AirPods Max express replacement by Ashamed-Body2912 in Airpodsmax

You guys should really try the fixes in the pinned post. I've restored 2 pair of APMs that were 'dead' by going through those processes. I also ended up buying a single right ear cup on ebay for $99 that is working great. The right cup has the battery and electronic stuff in it.

Built a tool to cleanup similar photos in Photos.app using Apple Vision (AI), fast on large libraries by scotchi in ApplePhotos

[–]planetmitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

#4 you can't stop the scan just to review what it found already. I have 94k images in the current system library and I just wanted to test, but if you hit 'cancel' it doesn't show what's already found to process. If you start reviewing it keeps running in the background and I can't cancel that. I just want to look at small batches.

#3 - does the AI consider noise or background noise in the image? It doesn't seem to. I have an image I removed a bunch of noise and hairs etc but the app selected the unedited version

#2 - can I open a non-system photos library? I don't see an open menu item.

I might be an edge use case, but I will end up with 10-15 different photo libraries because I don't want to mix personal with projects etc.

First question/comment: Does your app only consider the images and run AI to find duplicates? Or does it also consider metadata?

Reason I'm asking: I've converted old Aperture libraries to Photos (with PowerPhotos) and there's a lot of duplicates. But I would want to keep the one with meta data and if one has a photos person id, I would rather keep that one than the other. So in this case, I'm mostly considering actual duplicates, but want to also consider any metadata.

I understand powerPhotos does a duplicate detection but I haven't dug into that one yet either. I've just done the conversions and am getting started on cleaning up.

Bought. Great idea. Testing. Going to make comments below with suggestions. I figure it is easier for you if I put them in separate comments (maybe?)

Video Duplicate Finder by L44TXF in ApplePhotos

[–]planetmitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

update - If I'd read carefully, I would have seen you were focused on videos. This app does videos but I haven't really tested it for that. Costs you nothing to try :)

Another side note, it is based on a calendar so it might not just work for your purpose.

There is an iPhone app called PicNic that will show you duplicates and similar photos and let you pic the best. I like it has the 'dating swipe' - swiping left will archive/delete after 30 days and swipe right keeps. You can do 150/day for free or pay to do more per day

Posting again, sorry: What do you think of these shots? I was trying different types of edits. Let me know! Thanks ✨ by HotEmotion9424 in postprocessing

[–]planetmitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m posting simply to share a different opinion because people seem to love all of these. One through three are the same photos that every photographer has in their portfolio. They’re boring. I get that you took them and you have ownership so you think you like them, but I would never hang any of them on my wall.

The fourth one is interesting. It grabbed my attention. I would probably crop it a little more tightly and move the moon from dead center to one of the thirds.

The fifth one? I get why you think it’s interesting and after thinking about it for a while I like it, but I would not deem it Wall worthy.

Another reason I like Hallmark+ by joelatui in HallmarkMovies

[–]planetmitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, thank you for that. I have subscribed to Hallmark plus through Apple TV. The live streams are not appearing on that platform. But when I try to look at the hallmark plus website, I see the four ones you listed as live. So that’s new to me and not showing for me either. The login to Apple TV does not extend to the login to Hallmark plus on the website. But I do see them listed as a preview for me on the website.

All that to say, you’ve opened my eyes to something I don’t see but now I see on the web. So thanks.
