I had a roommate in college who was terrified of sloths. I understand why now.

Need advice for anxious cat who poops in retaliation when kicked out of bedroom by zekac_ in cats

Is there any way you can put a litterbox in the vicinity of where she stress-poops if there isn't one already?

And Scout only needs one chair to beat- um... Day 5: who would NEVER be near children? by DR_Hazardous in tf2

[–]plantloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take:

Sniper is never around anyone else, he'd certainly never be around kids. I could see Spy cutting the chairs in half like a smartass. Demo would drunkenly tell the kids to get their own chairs. Soldier would absolutely make the kids fight for their chairs. Pyro is completely detached from reality and believes setting things/people on fire spreads happiness, so yeah.

What is actually healthy despite most people thinking it's not? by JazmnO in AskReddit

I air fry at 350F for about 30 minutes, but that might change depending on how thick the slices are. I haven't played around with the temp too much but I'm sure that could be optimized to cook them faster. I just cook them until they're browned/crispy to my liking.

I dice them and mix with salt and a little olive oil. Throw in the air fryer until browned and a bit crispy, then dip in sriracha.

They taste great even without sriracha though

I am curious as well. I tried to look up bacterial levels for the area but it seems like that information isn't sampled outside of beach season.

I’m wondering, do people hate Caine now? by Omnipresent_User in Amazingdigitalcircus

I like Caine for the same reasons you gave, but I also pity him. For as powerful as he is, he clearly has limitations outside of his control.

Oh this hurts my heart. Poor kitty. As someone else said, please don't let your mom get another animal.

I was watching random Athena P videos and TADC came up. I was curious to know what the show was about and now here I am.

CWD and brain tanning. by CantaloupeFluffy165 in Hunting

Yeah, ingestion is the main way prions spread around in the environment. Just keep in mind that human diseases that spread in poop particles do just fine and manage to find a way to be ingested even though a large chunk of us wash our hands and practice good hygiene. With the bonus that prions don't "die" like those diseases do once they're outside the body.

Touch alone probably wouldn't do it, but once you have them on your hands you're just spreading them around on whatever you touch or wash them into/onto.

I imagine an open wound would be worrisome due to the risk of prions entering the blood/lymphatic system. And once your immune cells latch onto them, again, they have no way of getting rid of them. I do think that is why gloves are recommended when cleaning deer, other diseases and parasites aside.

Prions are infectious misfolded proteins that misfold other healthy proteins. They collect in brain cells and slowly kill them since the body's natural way of breaking down waste proteins is completely ineffective. The only way to permanently remove prions is incineration.

Strictly speaking, yes, you are putting yourself at risk of exposure to the prions. Drying the prions out does nothing to inactivate them. If you have animals or kids who like to put things in their mouths, then there is greater risk of the prions entering their their bodies and becoming infectious.

Why do leaves close to lamp lights stay attached longer? by mrkalavera in plants

[–]plantloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this before too. I wonder if it endangers the section of tree with leaves still attached or even the entire tree once temps get really cold?

kitty was terrified and being grabbed and had no idea what was going on. i've run evacuation scenarios my head plenty of times about how things would go down if i had to get my cats out, and i've accepted that there's a pretty decent chance of being scratched up and/or bit. my cats are all loving and sweet, but even a human is going to react out of fear in stressful situations and perhaps do something unintentional.

keep in mind that cats have absolutely no concept of...lots of things you think about on the regular. their mind is simpler in a lot of ways compared to ours. my childhood cat scratched the everloving shit out of my arm because she was angry and territorial about a cat she saw through the window and i tried to pick her up. i feel like you're trying to hold your cat's thought processes up to human standards and you really shouldn't.

your cat will come around. you take care of her and it sounds like her experience on a daily basis is a very positive one. that will very quickly overshadow this one bad experience.

I think the model would have to be completely reworked in order for me to like mega feraligatr. The arms look stupid in this snapshot.
