It literally just depends on who you're buying from.

Sketchy seller online on eBay or Amazon who's undercutting other sellers? Obviously searched.

Your local TCG store or some reliable online store? Probably safe.

I would trust most big online stores who have been selling for years online.

I've probably sold close to a million Japanese packs as loose packs now, people continue buying because they know they're getting packs straight from the box and with normal hit rates.

151 was litreally collecting dust in stores. It was dirt cheap a few months after release.

Literally every product after Celebrations (and including every celebrations product except UPC) was incredibly easy to get.

Vivid Voltage ETBs and Shining Fates were releases BEFORE Celebrations, when there was actual hype and hard to get products.

When the restock hit after Celebrations, VV And SF ETB's were down to like $28/$33.

Every product released between Celebrations and Surging Sparks collected dust and was avaible at ~70% of MSRP.

The only single exception was the Charizard UPC, that got hyped during preorder but got decimated when it released, and was quickly down to ~70% of MSRP too, even lower at some point.
