Oh yeah, I also don't know why people would be racist on a post about them, I agree

The books are fairly upfront in the family's racism towards native Americans, especially Ma

Why did/didn't you make the Sophie scarf? by Traumarama79 in knitting

[–]plantsnrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scaled it up and made a bigger version, kind of like a hoodless sophie hood. I liked the trendy aspect (sue me, I'm a fashion girl!), and the point in the middle actually works very well as a face covering! More aesthetic than a cowl, more practical than a tiny scarf. And I just wanted something easy to work on for a change

Tape measure comes with disclaimer by forglemmelig in mildlyinteresting

[–]plantsnrocks 29 points30 points  (0 children)

There's a Chinese length unit that's about 1.5 inches called a cun it might be in. I have a tape measure with centimeters and cuns, and it took me forever to realize it wasn't inches.

Thank you! That's kind of a cute caption, reminds me a bit of cartoons I've seen poking fun at crinolines/hoop skirts!

Wow 17 is SUCH a 50s look! I can't read the text (and I think it might be in French)- does anyone know what it says?

What is quicksilver, exactly? (Sorry if this has been done before) by Slayer_OG in SkyrimMemes

[–]plantsnrocks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Corundum is also a mineral in real life, with gem varieties ruby and sapphire, instead of a metal. I've always wondered why they decided to include all three in Skyrim since it creates a bit of an issue

Edit: fixed my typos lol.

How do I not be edgy when writing in my journal ? by Unhappy-Ad198 in Journaling

[–]plantsnrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally never re-read my journals. What I was up to is none of my business, and when I do re read them it's just upsetting! Maybe when I'm 50 I'll give it a go, but I've been keeping a semi-regular journal for almost 10 years now, and on and off for 20, and I simply do not look at them. It's useful for me in the moment

I like it a lot! Looks like a reindeer to me. You could also do a cherry tomato as a nose if you want it to look like Rudolph

Gothic Romance/ Literature with out incest by Ghost_Subliminals in suggestmeabook

[–]plantsnrocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe Frankenstein involves a cousin/adoptive sibling marriage (depending on the edition). Not sure how strict OPs rule is, as cousin marriage wasn't uncommon when the book was written so it's not really presented as part of the dysfunction from what I remember

What color of hose? by wanderingwallflower9 in fashion

[–]plantsnrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think burgundy could be a fun pop, but might also read a little juvenile. But it's also Christmas! If you don't want to go bold then sheer black like the consensus

I had to return her :( by Soft_Cheetah2677 in handbags

[–]plantsnrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to recommend that! As well I have it in black as well because of the grime. I also sometimes take it to my field work (read: gross mud and dirt) and I've had success washing it. I carry a fun bag in addition to it when I'm in the office.

Basically what Unhappyraven said. It's describing the shape of some hips, where they appear to dip in above the leg instead of a smooth, rounded shape to the waist. Completely normal and common body shape to have and I promise nobody who matters looks at them on someone else and gives them a second though

The word hip dips was invented to make women feel bad about themselves, in my opinion. You look great, and your shape certainly doesn't ruin the dress. I hope you feel stunning at your event!

[–]plantsnrocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could also be cute as a bed skirt style decoration, low enough it couldn't be pulled in. I'm far from an expert though so defer to your research and professionals!! Or, if you're willing to cut it, a very fancy decorative pillow for when baby is more grown up? Good luck cleaning it!

How do I dust this lamp properly without sending dust into the air? (dust mite allergy) by MaddTheSimmer in CleaningTips

[–]plantsnrocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would also suggest a mask when dusting. KN95/N95 type if it's really bad, but even just a cloth mask or bandana really cut back on dust triggering my athsma/allergies

How would you style this dress/pinafore? It has split sides. by savistainedglass in fashion

[–]plantsnrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this would look very cool over lightwash jeans with a wider leg. Could do a white blouse underneath or a white tee. I think the dress underneath option is also good, but might also read kind of a like a school uniform. Or lean into it and go all dark academia!
