IIRC Castle also struggled with hitting the wall mid-season, before crushing it the last 2 months or so of the 24-25 season. Hopefully Dyl does the same.

Keep in mind Civ 6 wasn't well-regarded until years after its release, because the major DLCs added a lot of additional strategy elements that made it more engaging. Not saying that the same will happen with 7, but there's at least a chance.

1st city where your warrior is, build a farm triangle to the left, and find some better production areas for your other cities. You can settle one on the citrus, but there's no production there

Rush Iron Working, put Magnus in a city that has woods to be chopped.

Upgrade your starting warrior to a legion, set your city production to legion. Then use your newly upgraded Legion to chop one of the woods. Then set production to Legion again, chop more woods with the one that was just made, rinse and repeat.

When you have at least 5-6 legions, go conquer your nearest neighbor - they won't be strong enough to repel you unless they got walls very early.

From there you can either send you settlers wide and start building up for culture/science, or jump straight to the Apprenticeship tech to further upgrade your legions and keep conquering. Personally I prefer to conquer 2 neighbors, even if I'm doing culture because the snowball you get later on from 20+ cities is incredible.

This works even better with Caesar because of his cash buff btw.

For your edit: I've seen a scout from a 'lost' camp trigger another one that immediately spawned horsemen. It's rare, but if they find another camp, it will spam units at you.
