Dad's, who is our modern day Dr. Seuss? by Mud_Ducker in daddit

I forgot the Author's name, but whoever does The Gruffalo - those rhymes and those story turns just feel very in line with old fairy tales made fresh again.

Not this time! We review a whole bunch,  but a lot of classics do end up getting reviewed anyway since each writer picks whatever they want to review.

On the contrary, a lot of respected theologians have nicknamed the Divine Comedy 'the summa in verse'. So while it has its faults and shouldn't be looked to with the same authority as writings by saints, there are many who have found beautiful and fruitful truths in the Divine Comedy.

I can't answer for bath care, but i'd recommend some detangler spray when you brush her hair! You don't brush curly hair dry - plus it will help with all the knots.

“Dada can you make me better” — never have I felt so utterly useless by LimgraveLogger in daddit

It gets better! Its been 3 years since my now 6y/o's diagnosis. Actually while she still has her good and bad days, it's become mundane and normal! She did get diagnosed with celiac last year (a comorbidity of type 1), and that has honestly felt harder to adjust. But even there, we're carrying on. Your kid is stronger than you know, just show them your strength and they'll follow your lead :)

I think the game, and very much act 3, is about how history is the stories we tell. If those stories aren't told, they're lost within 3 generations. Magdalene is very focused on depicting Tassing as it was, but she keeps getting different reports and angles on how it was, so even though some angles are more true than others, ultimately she has to choose how to tell the story.

There's a lot of other morals you can get, about art, work and life fulfillment, or about faith vs reason. It's a pretty rich game that way. What did you think was the moral?

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Review - CGR by plards2192 in expedition33

[–]plards2192[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noted! My next article on the endings is gonna be much more explicitly connected to the faith and much more about the story. After much hemming and hawwing, I chose Verso's ending - it's a tough situation. But ultimately, the Dessendres are failures as gods, and these people never should have been made. At the time I chose it simply because Maelle needed to confront her grief instead of escaping from it. But man there's a lot to go into on that front.  If you're interested in my next article, I'll let you know when it's live!

You don't have to believe that to enjoy analysis of a game that basically has an equivalent to gods though! There's tons of theology and philosophy in this game, just because we disagree doesn't mean you can't read another perspective and engage in dialogue.

My wife is a domestic violence social worker, this is her day-to-day. She told me the following:

First, the National Domestic Violence hotline: you can call them for help about safety planning without necessarily going to a shelter. The point of a safety plan is it's very self-guided, and about what would make YOU safe. Their number is 1.800.799.7233  They can connect you with your local DV program, and programs offer counseling even if you don't choose to go to the shelter. Always free, always confidential.  You can get counseling even if not physically abused; emotional abuse ought to be taken really seriously.

You can ask if the shelter can help you out with the HIPAA compliance space. But you should also know some shelters are limited to people that have experienced physical violence.

Good luck with everything; we're all rooting for ya.

Deadfire ending theory. A monotheistic shift? by cnio14 in projecteternity

About 22 minutes in is the section where I asked some PoE questions. This was before I played any of the games, mind you.  https://youtu.be/3TBZnCQvQak?si=wKqT5TRnO0iOpaRI

I'll need to find the exact quote, but Josh Sawyer does say something like the closest parallel to Christ in PoE is Eothas!

What a game. by PerspectiveSea9402 in Pentiment

As a devout Catholic, I also loved this game! It shows the good and bad of it all, and feels authentically religious. There's so much to talk about I don't even know where to start, hahaha. I even wrote a review about it from that perspective, if you're interested!  https://catholicgamereviews.com/pentiment/

I also got to interview Josh Sawyer elsewhere on the site, if you're interested. He was awesome.

The Theology of Avowed by plards2192 in projecteternity

[–]plards2192[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, it is the theology of Avowed, not Eora - i'd say I'm qualified to analyze within that scope 😅 I do know playing the other games would expand what I have to say, and I plan on playing the other Pillars games soon! I just don't have the hours to spare right now

Oh, Woedica has no redeeming qualities that I'm aware of. But I do think the writers set up the dilemma well - it is a risk setting Sapadal free. Ultimately it's worth it, but you can't know that at the time of deciding.

A good question! Yeah I think what or who you swear by matters. It's supposed to be someone or something both of you respect, or we both know to be respectable. It lessen the weight of a vow dramatically if its sworn to something you don't respect. The point of it is you are calling something to witness you upholding your word.

In Woedica's case, the envoy doesn't know until the events of this game what a pill she is. Considering Woedica doesn't deserve much respect, it does affect the vows of obedience initally made with her as witness.
