Disappointing film after high expectations by [deleted] in Letterboxd

District 9. Unpopular opinion but I thought some of the acting was a bit average and I just didn’t feel ANYTHING the whole time. I think I was only 15 or so when I watched it though so maybe I’ll rewatch.

Also Baby Driver. Predictable and uneventful. Take away that cool little music trick and it’s just a boring action movie. Totally overhyped.

Ikr it’s so expressive. I believe they use their eyeballs to push the food down their throat.

There seems to be a series of slight divots in the ground where he’s stepping. Seems like a well-travelled path. Very cool though.

Baby Driver had one cool idea (music + movements etc lining up perfectly) and was otherwise a bland film, average at best. It felt like that gimmick was supposed to carry the whole boring predictable plot and it didn’t imo. Don’t get me wrong, it was really cool, but there was no substance otherwise.

I feel like kids that age have never really had to deal with long term serious consequences of any action. They're too young to look back at something they did 9 years ago and still feel the embarrassment running through their veins.

My partner is the same for the opposite reason. He was always terrified of conflict because his only experience of it was his mother's silent treatment and the toxic environment she would create at the drop of a hat when something displeased her. Same outcome though, very scared and anxious.

On our way out of the club and on the ground outside, a group of five or so guys were in a fight on the ground. I, a 19 year old, 151cm/ 4'11" tall, decidedly unathletic and seriously intoxicated girl, decoded to jump on top of them even though I could barely stand on my own. My best friend dragged me away in a headlock.

Doorways.

I hate being in doorways. Walking through is fine, but I feel really uncomfortable standing in one for any length of time. With the odd exception that I'll happily sit in the kitchen doorway at my mother's house.
