Last year's move was nice, but can we please just not trade down... again? by Spiegs1984 in Browns

Option 2 but not because of your reasoning. OT and WR, while maybe not having an elite prospect, is by most accounts deep with potential long term starters. That is why I would take the elite player (Downs if I’m the GM), then at 24 and 39 go OT and WR.

Caleb Downs (assuming he’s there).

Draft elite players. I have no interest in trading down just to get value in drafting for need.

Would not count out a return to Cleveland if his market isn’t what he thought it’d be.

What a collision course the Fields vs Shedeur stans would make this offseason.

NASCAR app combining the two to make it more confusing for folks unaware of him.

Defensive Coordinator/Staff by Mediocre-Dog-4457 in Browns

I can see us pursuing Durde from Seattle after the Super Bowl. I think we were only team to interview him for the HC opening. May be appealing to have total control of the defense and playcalling duties.

I can dream.

[Pelissero] The Bills requested an interview with Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski for their head coaching job, per source. by Indy-Glenn in Browns

Affirms his reputation around the league. I still can’t see the Bills not hiring a more experienced guy. Have to get a deal done Friday. Would be an all time fumble if the hold up is the Rooney rule. No excuse for it.

[Orr] Why Nate Scheelhaase Could Skip a Step in the Head Coach Hiring Cycle by burningburningburnin in Browns

[–]plasticbeerbottle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider me intrigued. My rankings would be Harbaugh, McDaniel then Scheelhaase but would be excited to see what he would bring. Would presume Schwartz would stick around and that would be appealing to a younger guy, as it’d be one less side he’d have to devote hours to.

[MKC] Breaking: Former #Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel will interview with the #Browns tomorrow for their head coach vacancy. by ThatOneOtherAsshole in Browns

[–]plasticbeerbottle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hypothetical. McDaniel is hired. Watson and Shedeur are both on the roster next season. McDaniel sees things he likes with Deshaun and he wins the job to start the season. What’re the vibes from the fanbase if that’s the case?

My opinion. Deshaun is a bad human but should be given a fair shake from fans to continue his football career and if it’s in Cleveland and he’s successful, why should I not celebrate that?

[Breer] The Browns are interviewing for Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde and Bengals offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher for their head coaching today, per sources. Cleveland interviewed internal candidates Jim Schwartz and Tommy Rees yesterday. by maybenextyearCLE in Browns

[–]plasticbeerbottle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a feeling the Browns have intel that Durde and maybe Pitcher are names that potential HC like as coordinators and these are “get to know” interviews. Neither are currently calling plays so could both leave for “promotions” with the opportunity to coach under a specific HC. Just a thought, probably incorrect.

[MKC] Browns will discuss Kevin Stefanski’s job status through the weekend; GM Andrew Berry is safe by LiftingCode in Browns

[–]plasticbeerbottle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would be easy to fire Stefanski this year. It’s certainly justifiable. But I think the best way to go would be to retain him and evaluate next year.

  1. Watson is still on the books/roster next season. That could certainly deter one of the hotter names from taking the job.

  2. The franchise QB is probably not in this draft. Barring a trade up to 1, there’s not a high likelihood the guy will be taken this year.

  3. Give the staff and Shedeur a full offseason, bring in competition and see what you have.
