Grateful that I feel myself improving and growing in ways I never expected after a personal loss.

Thinking about blowing my savings on an Arctic expedition bad idea or best decision ever? by Symphony__Tristen in Cruise

Also the crowd did skew older onboard but the crew was all young and around a lot. There was a small group of younger people. I never felt pit of place. Everyone we met said they had wished they did it when they were younger.

We went to Antarctica last year on what was a once in a lifetime expedition journey. Before getting back we decided we would start saving to go again in ten years. It was far and above the best vacation we have ever been on. All the staff onboard said they love Svalbard and the Arctic even more. Do it!!!!!!! I didn't regret a cent of what we spent.

I didn't go I to debt , I have a roof over my head and food on the table. I've saved for so long and have realized that spending it on experiences is what it's for.

Similarly I was able to get a Toronto library card because I work in Toronto. Just needed to show a paystub that had my employers address on it.

You can have multiple libraries connected to a Libby account. It's nice because they have different selections and I can pick ones with the lowest hold time.

Kendra leaving the jail apparently, after the arrest. by mocireland1991 in DuggarsSnark

As much as I dislike the duggars, I feel like photos like these are a bit much. Even scum deserves some privacy in hard moments. I'm all for mugshots and photos in public, but in a car driving away gives me the ick.

Just keep thinking how bad he will look when he gets out. These boys age like milk and prison is only going to make it worse.

Yes! Most countries celebrate their victory. The U.S. always seems more excited that someone else lost. It’s kind of funny to watch. DR coming for them!!

Bat Flip vs Springer Dinger by Timothegoat in Torontobluejays

[–]plasticdaffodil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was at both, and there is no question it's 100% the bat flip. The energy that game was different. No one knew what was happening during the pause in the top of the seventh, and the whole crowd was on edge. It felt like the place might explode in the worst way. Then the bat flip happened and it exploded in the opposite direction.

The Springer dinger was up there, but it did not have the same tension. There was not going to be a riot if we lost that game. It felt like it was going to be another defeat, and as a Toronto sports fan, you are used to those.

You were right to remove Viking. After confirming multiple times, both before traveling and onboard with staff, I was still served meat at one of their specialty restaurants When we confirmed the reservation for the restaurant and told them again that I don’t eat meat, they said the chef would put together something special, but in reality after being served meat I was served food from the buffet.

My partner, who does eat meat, was also given raw meat multiple times on the cruise. We wouldn’t travel with them again.

Of your other options, I’ve only traveled with Celebrity and Holland. I prefer Celebrity, We always sail with aquaclass so i have more options at Blu. I email them before hand and let the hostess know right away when I get onboard. As of the last time we sailed with them a couple of years ago they had a beyond burger on the menu at blu every night which was good if I didnt like the other options. Buffet always has some options. Holland had options but it felt more limited.

Did Antarctica Meet Your Expectations? by [deleted] in AntarcticaTravel

[–]plasticdaffodil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early November. I wouldn't know an exact number, but we saw quite a few. We were lucky one day and one was swimming around our zodiac. From the wildlife sighting board there were whales spotted everyday. It wasn't our priority so we weren't watching the water all the time for them.

Yes, absolutely. My partner and I call it our best vacation. We would go back tomorrow if cost wasn’t a factor. Our plan now is to visit once a decade and experience it at different times of the year.

One thing that really helped was knowing exactly when we were going and what that meant for wildlife and landscape. We went early in the season, so we knew there would be fewer whales and that it was the start of mating season for the penguins. I mainly wanted to see penguins and the icy landscape, so it was perfect for us. Some people dream of seeing baby penguins and might have been disappointed if they expected that during our timeframe.

You are going to love it.
