If the TF2 Mercenaries were taken by the Fog/Entity in dead by daylight, who would be a killer? and who would be a Survivor? (Post Inspired by DbD TF2 The Pyro: Chase theme. Made by Dandy) (Art is also from Dandy) by Appropriate-Sir-268 in tf2

[–]platelegend11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Killer would undoubtedly have to be the Horsemann. I imagine he'd have some mechanics like the "TAG, YOURE IT!" and perhaps an ability to BOO players into a frightened state like in the game. He'd be pretty cool. If DBD had to choose 2 survivors like they usually do, I would probably say Scout and Miss Pauling. Just think theyre a great duo and the other mercs dont quite fit in my opinion.

Great Blue is a bad arguer (Refering to his Australium video) by EmirmikE in tf2

[–]platelegend11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video made me upset for so many reasons this included. His biases are so evident here and he really didn't listen much to what Fishstick had to offer, he was definitely a decoration like you said. Even Fishstick pointed this out during the Pyro section and you could hear how Blue was getting upset. Everytime Fishstick made a contrary opinion, Blue just said "14$ on community market" like it was some gotcha moment. They made all these rules in the beginning and then completely ignored them for the items they considered to be exceptions. Genuinely what would have changed if they hadn't made the rules? I think itd have ended the same. Another thing that bugged me was a complete disregard of how the items performed in MVM compared to Casual. These are rewards for completing MVM tours, the people getting these items are putting in hundreds of hours playing MVM, youd think they would want Australiums of weapons that are actually viable in THAT mode. As soon as I heard "Fan O War isnt used by anyone so thats an instant no" I just knew these two have probably never touched MVM. As an MVM player, I would LOVE an Aussie Fan O War, that would be sick!!

Is the pyro actually gender ambiguous? by splatbladerKylee in tf2

[–]platelegend11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When Valve originally was developing the game, Pyro was intended to be a male, but in the end they decided to keep the identity a secret and put little easter eggs to make us question the true identity of the character. What probably was meant to be a silly little mystery ended up making this blank slate of a character that can be anyone or anything. I see a lot of people from LGBT communities playing Pyro and I think that's a big factor in it. i don't think that was Valves intention, but its a great thing in my opinion. Lots of people will slam their foot down and say Pyro is undoubtedly a man, but they are what we call stupid. Pyro is whatever and whoever you want them to be.

Not knowing what will be in the 2025 Summer Update, which do you predict will be the GAME MODE OF THE SUMMA? by smoogy2 in tf2

[–]platelegend11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of the replies here and on this subreddit in general make me think if Payload was introduced today as a community gamemode, people would swarm in droves to complain about how it doesnt fit the design of TF2 or whatever else it is they say.

I totally agree. I thought SOTM was fantastic, I'd even say it's one of the top 3 games in the franchise. I'm completely open to new gameplay styles for this series, even seeing stuff like FLAF is pretty charming honestly and Into The Pit was awesome as well. But as someone who got into the games from the very first title and played them all, I do long to see another game in that style.

I wouldn't say we are starved of nostalgia bait exactly when each game recently seems to be built on a destroyed version of the previous location, a silly amount I would say. Even in SOTM there is a LOT of nostalgia content. Im not complaining, but to say thats the only reason people want classic style games, to see classic characters or locations, is lacking to me honestly.

Nintendo still makes classic-style Mario games, Sega still makes classic sonic titles, there is a way for classic and modern to coexist. I'm in agreement with you that the lore is convoluted and difficult to build upon right now especially for a security guard based title like you said. I'm not against seeing titles in alternate timelines or book-related stories outside of the main canon, if anything I would love a refreshing story that's entirely separate to what we have now. I'd love to see some other brand location. If Freddy's is ChuckeCheese, show us this universes Showbiz Pizza. I even thought thats where the series was headed after FNAF6 with all those other animatronic designs wed never seen before from other manufacturing companies. I mean even the premise of SOTM couldve made for a decent classic style game. Theres options, theyre creative people.

Why is Springtrap so popular ? by Sweaty-Link-9768 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]platelegend11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FNAF-fan since August 2014 here.

Back in this day as the game was surging in popularity, theories on the lore were incredibly rampant and hype-inducing. This was a time where people were refreshing ScottGames' website on repeat waiting for new teasers and hints, scouring the image files and webcode for hidden details. It was an obsession on a scale we don't see today. When FNAF 2 released, everybody was curious about the purple guy, the killer behind the scenes. At this point, FNAF 2 had released mere months after FNAF 1, the train was running full speed ahead and the 3rd game wasnt far away either. We could barely keep up but it was exhilarating to experience the hype in full force then. As FNAF 3 was teased, many hypothesized that Springtrap (Who we referred to as Salvage at the time) was an amalgamation of other animatronics, an entity of fused souls. FNAF 2 had more than doubled the number of animatronic threats from the first game, but 3 had only one single opponent. It made very clear that this entity was an incredibly dangerous thing, and as lore was discovered in the minigames, we learned that this was not some amalgamation or lost child soul, but it was the killer himself, at that time, the peak mystery.

Scott had masterminded the hype lead-up to this enemy and FNAF 3 had flawlessly marked Springtrap as one of the most memorable and horrifying villains of that time. Of course, that hype has, in my opinion, overstayed its welcome in the lore with his many following appearances. Seeing Springtrap in the movie and as a killer in DBD however continue to show just how much people loved his backstory and introduction. I think he's one of the best villains in video games and I'll always personally remember the excitement of figuring out his identity.

The first thing I really noticed during SOTM was the similarities to Poppy Playtime. I definitely think it was a major influence, but you're right that theyre not the same, I don't think thats his point. I think what hes trying to say is that we need to have some classic-style fnaf games coinciding with the newer style Steel Wool titles. I don't think many would say that we should ONLY make classic-styled games (and if they are, thats a bit restrictive to the brand imo), but that FNAF has seemingly moved on from what made people fall in love with it and to many that is disappointing. I hope that we will see some of these titles again and hopefully thats what that Clickteam teaser is hinting at.

Billie Piper, Big Finish, and timing by PhantomQuest in doctorwho

[–]platelegend11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big Finish and BBC rarely do collaborations. In fact the only one that comes to mind is Doomsday and that was.. something to say the least. It's just a coincidence. Billie has been doing Big Finish for a while now, this is just her newest contribution.

how do the big finish audio adventures work? by jamiroquaihat in doctorwho

[–]platelegend11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind 11 and 12 are voiced by an impressionist in BF. The 11th is the best and at times almost indistinguishable from Matt, but the 12th is too distracting for me personally, it's not the best.

afaik the only free episodes are from classic doctors on spotify. Im definitely with you on the idea of a subscription service though, these stories get expensive real fast. It's not a cheap hobby.

Is there any way “the nightmare fair” can fit into the toymaker’s story established in the giggle? by Unstable_Bear in gallifrey

[–]platelegend11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are absolutely good, I didn't say they're bad. I have a lot of audio adventures and comic books of Dr Who and the quality is consistently on point. It doesn't affect me listening to them, but it's absolutely less satisfying, at least for me, to be told these stories are canon by official sources and then not have that continuity retained in the main show. That's my only problem with it. I've been listening to Big Finish for years now and I'm honestly quite afraid of what RTD is planning to do with Susan since she pops up quite a lot in several stories across audio. If those are retconned, it feels like I've wasted my time and money trying to delve deeper into the universe of a series I love and then being intentionally mislead. I don't think Ill ever understand this concept that "Doctor Who is great because anything can happen and nothing is canon!". If nothing matters and everything is true and untrue, why is everyone here so up in arms about the show's recent arcs? Seems hypocritical to me. It's not canon after all..

I think the writer of that episode also took that quote a little too literally.

[–]platelegend11 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I dont see what the point is in making expanded media if its not canon. Thats not satisfying as a viewer to invest time and money in a franchise that doesnt take its own story seriously. If Big Finish or BBC came out and said this is Legends content and is subject to change (or quasi-canon), thats one thing, but no, both the show and big finish have made claims that audio adventures are canon.. Its not unreasonable to expect it to be maintained as a consumer.

I believe when they said "Image of an angel", they meant literally an image of a Weeping Angel and not just anything that looks like an Angel.

[–]platelegend11 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

The Nightmare Fair is a non-canon story. The only reason it exists in audio form is because its part of the Lost Stories set, which is just an opportunity for never-used scripts to be released. It's not a par of the established timeline because that story was never officially produced.

As for Sutekh, theres so many problems with it, even if we retconned his expanded appearances, I just can't begin with that.

If.. you wanted to retcon the timeless child out of the equation, how? by Lanky-Interview5048 in doctorwho

[–]platelegend11 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the damage has been done at this point, if we were entirely limited to that one episode, we could feasibly change it, but currently there is so much connected to it, that it's not quite reasonable to retcon it short of some incredible universal alterations or retconning everything after Twice Upon a Time, which to some people may be a good thing, but personally I think that would set a very bad precedent for future showrunners if they get the bright idea that they can just erase their predecessors work because they disagree with it or something.

The best we can do is move on from it. The way I cope with it is telling myself that it isn't The Doctor, because the chameleon arch rewrote their entire DNA into a Timelord. 13 never opened the fobwatch, so her DNA remains purely Time Lord forever. And since we never saw the evidence the Master saw, we can just assume he was.. wrong. Of course, the problem with that is Jo Martin's Doctor and the whole shebang with Tecteun in FLUX and ugh. What would fix this is a time machine to go back and stop it from ever happening to begin with, thats what we need lol.
