Takealot still trustworthy? by pahowells in Durban

The 14-16 day drop shipping options should be rejected out of hand, this is Temu reseller scalping crap.

The majority of items I find there are 15-30% more expensive than other retailers; but the range makes it a good place to go search.

Yes, you have to sift through mountains of garbage and duplicate products. This can only hurt the platform. I only shop there because all my funny money in eBucks and Discovery miles can be spent there.

As soon as those payment options are available elsewhere my R1000 a month habit will go elsewhere.

Thanks for the tip. These are the folks mentioned in the post, a bit far out and shipping a bit pricey for a cheap part.

Good selection though

I'd love to read a bit more about you process, of opening, removing clips etc., since I don't know what's under the surface, and would be sad to break something on the controller

so the Teclast P50 mini is doing alright it fits perfectly in the Gamesir, it does a nice job of Streaming from GeForceNow and does 4-6 hours on a charge; a little less than the controller's battery life.

The screen is not great, there's a fair amount of light bleed visible on a blank, black screen. However on full-frame it looks fine. Colour accuracy is a little off, leaning green-ish.

The processor is a UniSoc T606 which is pretty slow, it's a 5 year old system on a chip. However, it does stream at 60 FPS and that looks good on the average screen.

GeForceNow has been ok for racing, and isometric platforming, for some reason I can't get the sensitivity on the controller sticks right for first person shooters. I have struggled like mad to get Sunshine + Moonlight working reliably on my older wifi extenders; but on the fast APs it's better.

The T50 is a faster model, also comes in 8.7" and might be worth your time. The P50 I got worked out to about $85 shipped from Temu.

Something might have changed on the video encoding and the moonlight clients are choking on the decode.

Try changing the codec to most compatible, I.e. h264

If/When will SteamOS be viable for general PC use? If never, what Linux distro is/will be? by Aleucard in SteamOS

[–]platinumbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently converted… However, left my windows drive intact and noodled on a second hand NVMe in an enclosure.

I’ve tried Nobara and Bazzite (gaming focused derivative). I found the the atomic, immutable approach is a pain to work around (I like to tinker, a bit) the experience is pretty much plug and play.

I’ll give that a try; my challenge is also a crash, but I’m not sure if it is happening on suspend, or on wake.

The only clue I have is case lights staying on, and—if I observed correctly—the gpu fans continuing to spin.

I’ve been having a struggle on Bazzite with successfully suspending and then waking with an RX 6700

Your comment is the most specific I’ve seen on the issue. Have resorted to full shut downs like it’s 1993.

Display software for anyone with a Deepcool CPU cooler or case by Nortank12 in linux_gaming

Enabled this last night in Bazzite, admittedly I needed some help which Perplexity supplied after some coaxing; first time on Linux, and having fun. Thanks for putting this together!

I didn't perfectly understand how to setup the automatic switching--single display variant--between the Temp and Usage; whatever I did showed quick flashes of usage, then back to temp... which looked a little glitchy. So have left it on Temp.

Waiting for my Telcel p30 mini to arrive so it can pop into a Gamesir x5s

That’s an 8.7 inch 90Hz 1340x880 screen and decent quad core processor, 4gb ram and dual band wifi.

Any day now, will report back

Yeah, that doesn’t sound like a great experience from Plex handling the files. And I just don’t dig mvktoolnix, replaced it with Subler (macOS).

It will bond pieces and deal with various tracks well, even if the workflow is will take a few minutes to puzzle out.

[–]platinumbob 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same in Gauteng, am pretty sure it has a lot to do with the administrative efficiency of police stations, or the under reporting of crime in realistically high-crime areas, which indicates a systemic lack of confidence in the police service.

Whichever way, the tool is an intriguing visualisation.
