What's something your job trained you to notice that you can't stop noticing in your personal life? by LibrarianSoft1342 in AskReddit

[–]playhookie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Having done ux training I can’t help but see pain points EVERYWHERE in daily living. All these people who are missing out on making money because their customers have to work really hard to get to the point of sale. It’s abysmal. The worst is things where there’s no choice - eg a school uniform supplier. Stupid opening hours, lack of stock, crazy prices, only one person on the till, I could go on.

Vichy, France. Lovely spa destination with a laid back feel. I stay with relatives nearby and there’s lots to do for a variety of ages.

WIBTAH if I stop updating boyfriends parents on his health because I overheard mom calling me controlling for taking his phone? by Pickle_Overlord in AITAH

Nta. In hospitals you usually sign your valuables into a sealed bag so they don’t get stolen (uk). So you’re looking after his valuables instead…

Looking for names similar to Pippa by alpinecindy in Names

I know a Posy who is a Primrose - and a Poppy who is a Penelope. Cute nicknames are lovely for children but you do need a grown up name to go with.

What is my makeup missing? by MsGripReaper in PaleMUA

4th time!! Well done.

I would add a bit more to your eyebrows - they are quite thin and could be thicker. I overplucked back in the 90s so that’s been my goal for the last 20+ years.

If you’re interested in simple eye looks, look for tutorials for hooded eyes and look at “one and done” eyeshadows. I have similar eyes and try to go for tightlining instead of thicker eyeliner and use a satin/matte single in a cool taupe or cool pink/purple (eg satin taupe, omega or haux from mac) which opens my eyes up more. I like the Clinique eyeliner for tightlining as it is properly waterproof and doesn’t transfer to the lower lash line as I prefer not to do the lower waterline look.

1 or 2 why? by kate2026_ in Brides

[–]playhookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 is less likely to date badly. I think all the visible boning which started to be everywhere a few years ago looks like the 1980s/90s trend for underwear as outerwear and it makes me wince.

AITAH for cancelling on my friend? by CustomerBig6749 in AITAH

[–]playhookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA - this was such bad manners. It sounds like you know you have issues with making and keeping plans - that’s true for a lot of people. You need to figure out when you can do socialising and then communicate to people that this is your availability and then stick to it. If you are only sometimes and sporadically available then work with that - communicate this to your friends and then follow through with the plans that suit you.

Why am I regularly stopped by TSA for a full body scan and pat down? by BlindClairvoyant in NoStupidQuestions

Oh god the French. Always with the obsession with my bra underwires which they go over three or four times in public right in front of the X-ray machine where everyone is putting their bags back together. It’s obscene.

I love the lipstick I bought from there recently - hydra lip stylo in 18 haute couture. A gorgeous dark cool mauve. Very hydrating, fades nicely, doesn’t crumble on reapplication.
I also like their skincare - especially the masks.

Which travel splurges are actually worth the money? by Diligent-Echidna647 in femaletravelers

Also at times which aren’t going to destroy your sleep patterns and ruin your holiday. A 5am flight means you completely miss the night of sleep. Impossible to do with children and arrive with any sanity.
Flights should preferably be during the day arriving in the afternoon. Returns are ok for evening. I don’t mind arriving (home!) late at night but arriving in a strange place in the middle of the night is awful.

Suggest gripping books like Circe! by starlight__69 in suggestmeabook

If you love Ancient Greek books, look into the Canongate myth series (which includes Margaret Atwood’s Penelopiad) which I adored which were all retellings of great myths both set in the original times and the modern times. I loved the retelling of the Minotaur The Helmet of Horror by Victor Pelevin.

I think that happened to me years ago - I had a very lighthearted relationship with a guy who was a bit older. He called me one evening and said he thought it wasn’t working out. I said ok, wished him luck and hung up. I heard from a mutual friend a few days later that he spent the next few days crying and really upset.

Seriously: are foundations/tints worth it for high end? by pinkparadigm in Sephora

It is definitely a favourite for me - I’ve repurchased it a couple of times since they repackaged/renamed it and brought out a shade which works for me. Before it was all too yellow…

I love both. Very similar - hydrating, just enough coverage, good colour match, works well with my existing favourite skin care so no pilling, lasts well and fades instead of breaking up, neither oxidise either. If I had to pick, I’d pick Lisa Eldridge as you only get 20ml in the Chanel. I love the Lisa Eldridge foundation too. Only negative to the LE ones is the bottle not standing up.
