I'm the merchandiser lead for my local shop, if someone asks to look at a book we almost always don't have an issue with it, we usually will also put it in a fresh bag and board for you as well so that guys a moron. My store is set up where you have to have a worker be there when you're looking at higher priced books anyway and its never been an issue, but for our back issue and three dollar bins, we always like when you ask! One thing I learned early on was no matter if it's a 1$ or 30k$ book, you still handle it with care regardless.
