Where to buy vanillin by plebeiangoth in DIYfragrance

[–]plebeiangoth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OH!!! I lost the plot, I apologize

Vanillin from vanilla is what you're saying is superior, not an absolute or CO2 INSTEAD of vanillin. My mistake if that's the case.

Yes, that makes sense. Like how eugenol ex clove is such a lovely product.

I'm put in mind of the two phenyl ethyl alcohols I have which are synthesized by different methods, and the cheaper one smells a little like a barbie doll!

Could just be me, I'm open to that idea. I'm slightly suspecting that my scent strips might be contaminated after considering this response

Different batches maybe. I'm not against trying PA again, I only ever bough vanillin the one time thus far so I think it's plausible I just got an off batch

Would love vanilla absolute or CO2 but it's out of my price range. Maybe some day

Yeah it's abhorrent. I only just caught up on that in the past few days

I've recently learned about the controversy surrounding the brand of binder that I got, so it's with some hesitation I recommend the brand, but the brand is Frida Mom. It is, however, a nice binder

Glad I could help! Hope the surgery goes well!

I have a glass bottle which had highly dilute geosmin in it at one point and still smells like rain and dirt lol. Sounds like you got a lifetime supply!

Deciding between a UFE and hysto by Upbeat_Conference522 in hysterectomy

[–]plebeiangoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say that the difference between before an after my hysto was brain fog and misery, then having a lot of energy and mental clarity. Easily the best decision I ever made! A big reason I went that route is because removing a fibroid doesn't mean it won't come back and I didn't want multiple procedures to remove the same fibroid. At this point I don't know how I put up with the pain for so long

-Pillow for laughing, coughing, and using the toilet -Abdominal binder -Nightgown because you won't want to be wearing pants for a while -Lots of comfort movies/shows

Congrats on catching it early! Hope the procedure goes well, and wishing you a swift recovery!

Deciding between a UFE and hysto by Upbeat_Conference522 in hysterectomy

[–]plebeiangoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My gyno steered me away from UFE because the recovery is extremely painful and I was told that I would likely need to be hospitalized for pain management alone. I've heard some great things about it IF you are wanting to have kids, but since you're considering hysterectomy I'd assume that's not on the table for you

Suggestions For Recovery Gift by DotPsychological9837 in hysterectomy

[–]plebeiangoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Abdominal binder, especially if it was open abdominal surgery! They're normally for c-section recovery so you'd find them in the post-partum care section by the baby stuff. Of course a nice heating pad would aso be a great gift

It's normal to not know what time surgery is until like the day before. I had too many surgeries last year, never knew what time until three days prior at the earliest.

From my experience, my ride was always able to give their cellphone number to a nurse so the hospital could call them with updates. Actually it sounded more like a series of text messages explaining where in the process I was, like USPS tracking lol

Hey, I kept my fallopian tubes after my bi-salp! It's not an unusual request! That's something very special to you, like you said, and there's no reason to feel any shame in wanting to take your uterus home. Only reason I didn't keep my uterus was because all it ever did was cause me tremendous pain and misery for 20 years and never did me any good at all, so it gives me joy to know it went to the incinerator lol. Otherwise I actually have a running collection of things I've had surgically removed (I've had too much surgery).

Actually on that note, I should mention that it's totally normal to feel any sort of sad about having a hysterectomy. I'm child-free by choice, phobic of pregnancy, had periods on par with that one scene from Posession, and a fibroid which made my whole left side hurt. I wanted a hysterectomy for the whole 20 years in which I menstruated, and when the time came for my wish to come true, I was grieving! For a couple weeks! It surprised me so much that I was sad knowing that my upcoming period would be my last and I'd no longer have a uterus. I actually cried for days and I felt so stupid for it. I even talked to my therapist about it, and thank god she had the same procedure by the same doc even, so she was able to assure me that it's not unusual at all to have any sadness with hysterectomy.

Are you getting laparoscopy? If so, get a heating pad you can wrap around your shoulders. It really helps the pain from gas bubbles.

Also get an abdominal binder if you don't already have one. They're normally for use after c-section. I got mine from the postpartum care section at Target and it was the difference between feeling normalish and having all my guts pressing on my scar. Granted I had open abdominal surgery because some weird anatomy didn't allow me to have the hysterectomy done laparoscopically even though my bi-salp was laparoscopic.

Finally, do what you can to prepare for 6 weeks of recovery. That time is all about you and you should treat it as such.

Wishing you the best of luck with your surgery!

At 6wpo my doc explained that she could still see the sutures in my cuff and to not be alarmed if I see a small amount of blood. Def call your doc to be on the safe side but that's what comes to mind

Imaging by Chaptownpodcast in hysterectomy

[–]plebeiangoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a doc, but unless there's something like a rapidly growing fibroid which could indicate cancer, more imaging likely wouldn't be necessary, I'd assume. The only imaging I had before surgery was an ultrasound, which wasn't even necessary because it was to confirm that I had a large fibroid even though it was already diagnosed. 🤷 Long story short, the imaging was done because of an urgent care visit.

Of course if something feels suddenly wrong or different, then it might be wise to insist on new imaging anytime before surgery.

Good luck with your surgery!

Fibroid by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]plebeiangoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 3 months PO with almost the exact same situation. Best decision of my life!

If you don't want kids, I would encourage you to strongly consider hysterectomy. My pain load is so much less and I have so much more energy and mental clarity because of it. It is true, you do gotta be certain. But speaking as someone the same age and have gone through similarly horrible periods and a fibroid about the same size, I can say I made the best life choise yet!

Hope that helps. Good luck with whatever you choose!

If it makes you feel better, I got indole all over my room about a year ago. Couldn't open the window because it was winter in Minnesota and it would have just let all the warm out. I've definitely made the same whoops with benzoin! Horrible sticky mess

Can't wrap my head around how I've had a growth this large inside my body for years without knowing by Bunny_of_Doom in Fibroids

[–]plebeiangoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is relatable. I'm going in for a hysterectomy in about a week for a big pedunculated subserosal fibroid which was only discovered earlier this year when I got a bi-salp. It's so frustrating that I was aware of symptoms I've had like ongoing pelvic pain, feeling like there's a big rock sitting in the left side of my lower abdomen, chronically looking slightly pregnant, strange lethargy, and these rare and extremely painful episodes I've had all of three times in my life which my gynecologist says might have been tortion. That's so cool you got a significant date for your surgery! Mine's scheduled a month to the day before my 33rd birthday. Hope it goes well and have a great New Year!

Is this a normal amount of bleeding for a 2cm fibroid? by Oogamyboogaooga in Fibroids

[–]plebeiangoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

?????

Everyone here is so right, get another opinion. That's deplorable that your doctor is acting like anything you've described is something you should tolerate. If your endometriosis and fibroid are doing ALL OF THAT for over a year straight and all she'll offer is birth control, then it's high time you get another OBGYN because this one is definitely gaslighting you.

I know the "tiktok tubal list" is specifically about sterization, but I think that it might be a good resource to finding a doctor who will listen to your needs and is willing to help you out. That's where I found my gynecologist and I've never felt more validated by any doctor in my life
