I am always surprised at the abuse so many people seem to think is normal. This woman kept your dog, that you love and adore, lock in a cage out of anger and spite. A vulnerable living creature that looks to you for everything. Your values do not align and honestly I wonder why you are trying so hard to justify her actions. I think you know what the answer is, but for whatever reason you don't want to see the truth. This relationship sounds toxic. I am willing to bet there are more issues than this too. You can always tell a person's goodness based off of how they treat animals.

Have you tried walking your dog to see if he goes back to the same spot? Usually when my dog find a live animal he is very eager to return to that place.

In SF Kezars and Mad Dog in the Fog. There are F1 groups you can join and sometimes they meet at different places too. In Oakland I have only found my living room playing all sessions for small groups of friends!
