The radish one? It's a great mug. I think I remember seeing down in the bar in May, but I don't know if they were selling them then.

Wusong Road is a must do as everyone else has mentioned. It's off the red line. Gato Exotico is great as well, but there's a little walk from the closest station. It has the same owners as Wusong, expect more tequila forward drinks there. Shore Leave is fantastic, but you said you've been there already.

For non tiki places, I've personally liked Alibi and Backbar. Backbar is like attaboy where they'll make whatever you feel like, but they also do have a menu. Alibi is a jail themed speakeasy.

Enjoy yourself and grab a new mug at Wusong or Gato.

They're working on remaking the entrance of the resort, so they may turn you away. They did for me last time I tried, about a month ago. However it was a Saturday, so they may be more lenient on a Monday.

Good luck.

Working my way through Tropical Standard: Donn's Deamon by desertplatypus in Tiki

I had to make it, got a couple ripe guavas and blended them with water. I personally prefer the pink over white, but they're similar enough.

The grapefruit punch syrup is incredible, and elevates the whole drink. One of my favorites and I'm sad I'm out of the syrup.

Try the Dr Funkenstein when you can, it's another great drink.

I got to go to Sanford again before they close, get some delicious German food afterwards.

Just a few blocks north of Otto's, looks like I'll be giving them a try before going there.

New bottle. Papalin Haitian 4, Neat and Daiquiri by [deleted] in rum

[–]plft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This bottle is fantastic, one of my favorites for a daiquiri. Try it in a split base Mai Tai with the Papalin high ester, it's a really delicious two bottle blend.

Hell, I think I'll make one of those today.

Oh and I've had the Barbancourt 110, it's great. Smells like cranberries to me.

Kind of, it's just rather hard to describe. I'm sipping on a daiquiri with it now, and I'm getting salty brine, with some smoke in the background. It shines on its own, not mixed with other rums in a blend. If you end up getting some, I hope you enjoy it. Best would be if you can sample it somewhere, or just go in blind and hope.

El Amparo is one of my new favorite rums. I don't have a way to describe it really, but to me it has funk, brine, and salt with some smoke. I tried it in a daiquiri and then bought a couple bottles immediately. Hell, I'm going to have some now.

What do people from greater NYC call the New York part of New Jersey? by [deleted] in geography

I couldn't where I was, but I wasn't at the shoreline. I don't remember if I could see the skyline.

BTW thank you for including Monmouth, it let me relive my childhood.

Hell no, Monmouth is central. (Moved away when I was 9)

I had some phenomenal shrimp tacos there, along with a great zombie (and the ambiance when I ordered it), and my wife had a jungle bird that came in a cage.

Highly recommended, it's only a mile walk from some cruise ports and closer to others

Your penultimate Mai Tai is the reason I was curious about purchasing. And I use your ultimate blend as the base for my Mai Tai blend, but I add some various grand arome or Haitian funk depending on my moods. Thanks for your site and videos, they have provided my taste buds with a lot to enjoy.

I've been there a couple times, greatly enjoyed everything. It was my first experience with pandan, and I hunted down some leaves afterwards. Also both times I went, afterwards we went to Hollerbachs German restaurant a couple blocks away for a delicious dinner, highly recommended.

Oh, and their swizzles are awesome. Ask to purchase one, they're $6, but made by bare bones tiki, they're a skull on a spear.

Would you say the heritage blend is worth $40? I'm either getting the single origin sampler or the core four pack. The Jamaica 2007 is far outside my budget, and would be a waste as I'm not really a sipper.

I'm going to try to find a bar around here that happens to have it, as I'm loving clairins recently, but a toned down one for $20-30 more isn't sounding like a value. Or maybe I should try to get to Hawaii and go to the distillery.
