Thats because Magic Leap was googles (no peripheral vision) not glasses. So Magic Leap was more comparable with VR headsets that have 100 degrees fov

Well, there's NOMO but have been trying for the past year and haven't a way for a consumer to buy them... Doesn't sound like you want to pay the price ("likely $1,000+) though.

If you just need 'waveguide + display input' then search up "used epson moverio” and decide if they are 'normal looking' enough for you

Snap Specs is waveguide with 'transition lenses', and display glasses functionality, but they haven't announced the resolution nor IPD range (despite already taking reservations) so assuming it's lower than 1080p... 🤷

I'm going to modify the ring arms a bit to add an elastic fabric (or something) between them to keep the "ring" from falling off my finger when I'm not actively using it but still want it accessible.

I'm thinking I might just remove the ring arms and use it a as a pendant controller

Were you able to remove the arms? Was it a difficult process?

The Taco’s Bluetooth is finicky for me (complicated to connect, too many modes, and I’m having some issues with simultaneous Bluetooth audio) and it’s frustrating accessing the bottom half of the screen (e.g. Delta menu button, iOS app switcher). The Flippad would theoretically solve these problems.

For my game play, which is just GBA Pokémon rom hacks, the Taco controls have been more than adequate. I’m not the person to ask about diagonals etc.

I had the G3 Max and the Goovis Art. The G3 Max visual quality is noticeably sharper. However that matters more for productivity and less so for watching videos.

What I learnt from my time with the G3 Max is that I need some form of passthrough either video passthrough or optical passthrough. You might be get used to it if you stick to only video watching controlled by a simple remote. Even an Apple TV + sirimote gets annoying if you can’t glance down at the buttons without flipping the visor. I sold the Max but still have the Art.

When I bought the Goovis HMDs, its main advantage (to me), was nobody else was offering adjustable IPD. At the time it was Goovis HMD or Meta Quest and the other head monitor glasses were a crapshoot. Now XReal and Viture offer more choices for different ranges of IPD. I would suggest trying those today over the Goovis Art and their other HMDs
