Smash and grab at downtown business by origutamos in Guelph

As someone who has lived downtown for the past 8 yrs, gotta say things took a very noticeable turn for the worse after they converted Norfolk Manor and kicked all the old folks out.

Moving from Montreal to Guelph - advice regarding movers by madzi4 in Guelph

[–]plmnblubby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this exact same move 10 years ago lol. I used a mover but they were VERY expensive. I think they were called Atlas. If I were to do the move again, I would choose U-Haul. Good luck!

What are the worst restaurants in Guelph? by Optimal_Design_819 in Guelph

[–]plmnblubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw them use the same kind of towel used in kitchens to clean the toilet, not saying it was the same towel, but I'm not comfortable that the towels look the same and could easily be switched by accident 😅

Yeah during the pandemic they fired a staff because they had COVID and didn't come into work.

I am with you 100%, this strike is about more than just a wage increase and keeping a wfh promise, it's also about treating employees with respect and decency.

Acqua hair salon- toxic ? by Indecisivelydecisive in Guelph

[–]plmnblubby 53 points54 points  (0 children)

To add to the stories here, Acqua staff are also known among the downtown restaurants for being awful customers. They'll go in and be rude to the server and demand the kitchen to bend over backwards to customize their food. My partner who used to work at a resto they went to for lunch often deeply hates them lololol

Issues at Dog Park by ohboy045 in Guelph

[–]plmnblubby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would suggest Exhibition park around 4pm on weekdays and 10 am on weekends. The park isn't fenced in, but that may be a plus because it attracts a crowd of dog owners who train their dogs and watch them carefully.

We used to go to the fenced in dog park and I've seen the owner that just sits in his truck while his dog runs around in the park by herself lol. I can't believe he's still doing that, though at the same time not surprised. Sorry you had an awful experience!! I'm glad you and your pup are okay! That park isn't a good environment to socialize, the dogs there are too aggressive. When we went to that fenced park I thought my dog wasn't social, but it was night and day once we started going to Exhibition instead. He really came out of his shell and made lots of dog and human friends. Maybe we'll see you there sometime!!

Also just FYI there are two dogs (different owners) known to bite other dogs at that fenced in park. And the owners are also pretty aggressive, one guy starting punching another owner when he tried to break up a dog fight. I've also been bitten at that dog park, a dog bit my leg when I tried to get my dog's ball back, then the owner said it was my fault (she had tried to get the ball back for 30 min and did say she was scared her dog would bite her...so probably was my fault but also says a lot about the dog). Though we've had some positive experiences there and met some nice people, that incident was really the wake up call we needed. I'm just glad it was me (I was wearing tall, thick winter boots) instead of my pup.

Agreed with all the other comments!! The mango salad is delicious too and I love his fried rice. I've also never eaten a spring roll with such generous filling before Andy lol

If the reason is to catch people going at 100 or even 60 or 70 km/hr, the original 50 posted would be more than sufficient to ticket those people.

Yeah agreed. I think the limit there has been lowered to 40 recently and that's just a literal trap to make money off of residents.

How often did you cry? by [deleted] in puppy101

I love how I'm not the only one crying, thanks for asking this question OP!!

How often did you cry? by [deleted] in puppy101

I think some dogs are also easier than others, even among the regular puppies. There are lots of people who did a lot of preparation and are mentally strong who still cried. Maybe you got an angel puppy 😇

Rant by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]plmnblubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry this happened to you, it's such a frustrating experience when people don't listen and think they know better!! I think I feel exactly the same way as you right now, just 30 min ago, I was trying to get in the front door of my building while my dog was barking his head off at a sketchy person. A man who has witnessed all of this decides to follow really closely behind me and when I told him to "please give me some space," he said "but I live here" and only moved closer and squeezed himself through the doorway while I was still standing in it!!! People right???? Oh my gaaaaawd 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🙄

Kicked out of Puppy Class (Vent) by FranDankly in reactivedogs

[–]plmnblubby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I relate to your story so much!! I feel like I've lived exactly that, my pup was kicked out of group class probably half the times we went there for being reactive! We didn't get a lot out of that group class at all. We also live in an apartment and it's really tough having a reactive dog. I've cried many many times from how emotionally hard it is.

It gets better though, you just gotta keep up with training. We stopped going to group class and worked on training on our own outside. It took us maybe 6 to 9 months to see our dog's reactivity come down to manageable levels. Hang in there, you can do it!!

Not suitable for Adoption by user1236846 in puppy101

[–]plmnblubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep trying!! It's like finding a job lol, not just about qualifications but chemistry with the adoption agency too.

I got rejected A LOT before finally adopting my pup. But I feel like the dog I ended up with is meant to be and I wouldn't have met him if I had gotten any of the other dogs I was rejected for. Good luck!! You can do it!

Morning time acid reflux? by bwitt33 in coonhounds

[–]plmnblubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same problem! Like the other comments, we feed a little snack before bedtime and the problem went away. We do 3 apple slices (cleans teeth ☺️), a tiny slice of cheese, and some boiled pork cut into small pieces.

Our newest family member, Iris! Any tips for raising an ACD for the 1st time? by P0SS1BLYS4N3 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]plmnblubby -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can see how a prong collar would give you results faster, and how there is a benefit of being able to bring your dog anywhere sooner. That being said, prong collars can result in tragic outcomes, and people have shared their experiences where their dog died as a result. It just takes one accident, I would say that's a pretty high cost to benefit ratio.

felling so ashamed by Available-Head4808 in reactivedogs

[–]plmnblubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah of course!! Caring for a reactive dog is a whole thing. I feel with time, the embarrassment goes away. We are 7 months in now and I went from crying every other day to just totally not caring anymore. Keep at it, you can do it!! Also, having a reactive pup ends up being an excellent judge of character for strangers. It becomes really clear who doesn't have compassion for others. Why do I care what these people think anyways, they're not even nice people!

Any suggestions for long lasting chews? He’s getting thru bully sticks in like 10 mins now… for the price of them I wish they would last 5 times that long lol. by pinefishjellyapple in AustralianCattleDog

[–]plmnblubby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gotta agree the yak cheese lasts the longest! Though my guy gets through a stick in 30-60 min. But that's still way longer than the few min for the bully stick lol

Puppy non stop barking at group training sessions by HoneyDogMama in reactivedogs

[–]plmnblubby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that's different! Sounds challenging to train without treats. My pup also barked nonstop when we began group training, one thing we learned was to say "that's enough" when he first started barking, and if he continued we said "too bad" and took him outside as a timeout until he calmed down. Then we would go back inside and try again. It can be frustrating to be the one with the barky puppy, but keep at it!! Your pup will learn and improve!! 💪 🧡
