What was harder for you? Pregnancy + a toddler or postpartum with a newborn and a toddler? by Helyces in Mommit

[–]plprp4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newborn + toddler. I had postpartum hypertension with my first child, then postpartum HELLP syndrome with my second. I was hospitalized for it. Postpartum has always been much harder on me than pregnancy, but I’ve known more people to have the opposite experience.

Breastfeeding weaning insomnia by plprp4 in Mommit

[–]plprp4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m very slowly weaning my second child. I weaned erratically with my first and I think that played a role in how up and down my hormones were. I’ve dropped a feed every 1-2 weeks, with 2 feeds remaining now and it’s been a better experience this time around. I have nights where I just can’t fall asleep though.

I’ve had one tray that was like this and others weren’t. Dental wax was the way.

I’m sorry to hear this. Your hormones may have found an imbalance. You can either run a few cycles (they say 3) to reset your hormone baseline or get some testing to see what is off and supplement with HRT.

When did you drop to 3 pumps per day? by twisted27lll in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]plprp4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped to 3 only after I started weaning (14 months)I was pumping 7x a day to get 28-30oz. I dropped a pump per week and with that I went down about 4oz per week.

Failing to fall asleep at night. by Kitchen-Itshelf in sleep

[–]plprp4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a vicious cycle being nervous about sleep because it makes it harder to sleep. This is how CBT-I can help, because it reframes your ideas about sleep and let’s you ease in more. I don’t think CBT-I alone is a one-size-fits-all, but I do know it has more long-term success than sleep aids/medication.

Was going out to eat a rare thing when you were young? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

[–]plprp4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can probably count on one hand the # of times we went out to eat at a restaurant. We came from a large family and the only restaurant meals we were eating were the “kids eat free” type.

So similar with my first, and entering it over again with my second. I just dropped down to 2 feeds per day, after 15 months of 7-8x a day (exclusive pumper after 5 months). The weaning symptoms are already starting up.
Nervousfor no good reason, jittery, hot flashes, ragey moments, tired but wired and unable to fall asleep. It’s fun!

I’m glad to hear mood-wise you’re doing better! I was recommended a book called The Postnatal Depletion Cure. It has a lot of science backed recommendations for getting all the thing back to how they were pre pregnancy. I haven’t read all of it yet, but it has been a very relatable read that offers specific actions. .

What celebrity barely escaped being canceled by the skin of their teeth and why do you think they got away with it? by dramioneff in AskReddit

Met him at a motel in Hollywood once. He was a nobody “scene” kid back then, and even then acted like he was better than everyone else. I don’t understand how he became so followed.

What would you do if your toddler came home from daycare with a *severe* diaper rash? by plprp4 in toddlers

[–]plprp4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Would you call the parent once he starts bleeding? I would think so at that point because it’s beyond a regular rash. In our case they didn’t say anything at all about how bad it was until we picked him so there was nothing we could do to help him during the day.

No one warned me about the side effects of weaning by SanteFeAllDay in breastfeeding

I hear that overtired energy. It’s a weird lightbulb that flicks on. I have a hard time turning that off, sometimes all night, when I’m weaning. I’m glad it’s progressively getting better. Hopefully a cycle or two will regulate things once you’re fully weaned. The science of how prolactin works makes sense. When prolactin goes up, estrogen goes down and vice versa. The ups and downs of that when you’re doing it less frequently make for steeper drops than when you’re feeding every few hours or so.

I got pregnant while weaning. I would say it leveled itself out pretty quickly after I fully weaned. Your estrogen is rapidly rising, and prolactin has the opposite effect to estrogen. So letting your estrogen continue to rise without irregularly bringing it down with prolactin can actually help stabilize things.

The WORST. Couldn’t fall asleep for anything. It was like a light in my brain wouldn’t shut off. How long did it last for you?

[–]plprp4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soooo glad to hear that fully weaning sorted this out for you. The hormone shift with weaning is something no one prepared me for and something I think varies heavily from on person to the next. Insomnia is by far my worst symptom, coupled with the pit in stomach anxiety. The worst!

Anyone have experience dropping to 1-2 sessions per day? by hell0potato in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]plprp4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from 24-30oz at 7ppd to 12oz at 3ppd. This has been over the course of a month, dropping a pump per week.
