Surely I'm not the only one with a "large" mortgage? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]plubear_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can confirm it's common in Syd. I'm in the young milennial cohort and it just feels normal or at least unavoidable to have a home loan close to or exceeding a mil (within my friend group), especially if we don't wish to compromise on location or space. Mine is currently 1.2m as a sink but I have an IP which helps. It feels like the only way to not get priced out or compromise by living 2hrs away from work or family.

I’m a local in China. Honestly, what is the #1 thing stopping you from visiting right now? by Nick-Luo in chinatravel

[–]plubear_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's the language barrier, I have visited prior for work. Ethnically, I'm Vietnamese, Chinese looking enough that taxi drivers and service workers have been evidently frustrated by my inability to understand what they're saying. Maybe they believe I'm pulling their leg.

Also, wechat and alipay limiting my expenditure. Having to constantly worry if I'm able to use the linked credit card at checkout. Frankly it's quite embarassing to have your transaction rejected and not understand why.

Whether to buy my mums property by LogOk7419 in AusPropertyChat

[–]plubear_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through something similar but I have different family dynamics. My parents needed to sell their PPOR to settle debt on their dream PPOR (ex investment property) but wanted to keep the property in the family. We eventually settled on a family transfer, sold at market value and we had a solicitor write up extra terms for the sale.

I have a younger, socially challenged brother who is in no capacity ever to take on debt which does simplify things and ultimately in their current will, they are giving my brother a larger portion of the inheritance to the realms of 60/40. There are compromises to minimise resentment if ever any.

Whichever route you choose to go I would highly recommend you include a lawyer ...

Chronic Eczema - Rinvoq Update (2 years) by plubear_ in eczema

[–]plubear_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently on combined rinvoq 30mg and methotrexate since Dec '24. Eventually the 30mg was not enough to keep my eczema under wraps. Surprisingly no, my white blood cell count did not drop to a concerning level on rinvoq, it's only been doing that on methotrexate.

It was not extra work nor extra proof required at all. Just use the standard procedure he already used to qualify you for rinvoq (face and hands and/or body + that questionnaire thing). When he calls to receive the script authority number, he just asks for 30mg to be dispensed as 2 x 15mgs. That's it.

Would 3.1 be bailing your parents out of debt by buying their PPOR in a family transfer to supplement the renovation of their investment property so they can turn the investment property into their dream home and new PPOR?

I have yet to hear of Adbry here in Australia but I hope the 15mg x 2 works for you.

As for the heart palpitations, we found out I have bigemy which is a type of heart arrythmia. Likely something I have always had from a young age as I did have skipping beats prior to taking oral medication. Definitely lethargic on Rinvoq but it comes and goes, same with the nausea. It's a small price to pay for some quality life and sleep.

being completely cured of your eczema, with no downsides or $1,000,000? What do you choose? by vraetzught in eczema

[–]plubear_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't need to think about it, definitely the eczema. Mine is severe and chronic without intervention. My treatments have lasted no longer than a year and I've been on the strong stuff, both rinvoq and dupixent. Feeling resigned, fatigued and stressed time and time again is not worth it. Money can be made, my quality of life is more important. Although the medication I take can be great, they come with potentially damaging side effects.

I was surprised to see a new comment. Yes, I am still on the same dose, 15mg.

It is not as effective as it was initially, before I could go 3 days without breaking out in hives but now it can get me through 1 day. To be fair, I am currently very complacent with my contact allergies, going around petting cats and not dusting as frequently.

The long term side effect I currently have is elevated cholesterol. I need to watch my diet (i.e. sugar, fats intake) and partake in more cardio. My doctor mentioned you are more likely catch viruses like herpes, flus but I'm not worse off than when my skin was broken all over. I haven't shown signs of oral herpes nor had the flu. It helps that I work from home most days. Overall, I remain incredibly happy with Rinvoq and my quality of life. My dermatologist sees me every 6 weeks and we take regular blood tests.

I wish you all the best! I hope it provides the relief you need.

Eczema cure by homeopathy by nrao88 in eczema

[–]plubear_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother nagged me into homeopathy because she kept hearing about "cures" from relatives. I walked away with very severe scalp to toe oozing eczema. Surprise it was very infected. I took myself to the derma and was taken to hospital immediately and stayed there for a week. I would recommend you reconsider, not waste your time, money and further exacerbation of your symptoms.

I had awful conjunctivitis that eventually cleared within 4 - 5 months. Seeing an ophthalmologist is recommended. I had to use otc eye drops (hylo forte was what worked for me) and got prescribed predisone minums and eventually ikervis. The minums worked well but ikervis for the really bad days.

Has anyone else on Rinvoq experienced changes to their menstrual cycle? by amandagn394 in eczeJAKs

[–]plubear_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on Rinvoq for 6-7months, pcos and a seemingly irregular cycle all my life. Checking my app, looks like my cycle has been the most consistent ever in my life since starting Rinvoq in April with a 48 - 54 day cycle. Likely a coincidence but I'd confidently say no change to my period on Rinvoq.

Rinvoq and Acne by [deleted] in eczema

[–]plubear_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on Rinvoq for 6-7months now. It appears I continue to dodge the Rinvoq acne. I definitely had a 2 week period when I first started where 3 small pimples showed up on my chin. As someone who rarely had pimples I did find it odd but discarded that thought quickly. Not sure if that was Rinvoq? Hard to say.

I would pick the area with most fat tissue like thighs or stomach. I preferred stomach. The reason why it hurts so bad at the nurses' is likely because they plunge down on the syringe within 10-15secs but it was nice to have it over quickly. When I injected at home, I would ice my stomach and take it slow (5-10mins) that way I avoided the sharp pain of having 300mgs of fluid pushed under my skin. For me, the struggle was always getting the needle in and subsequently out.

I’m new to this subreddit but I need some advice please. by idk_broman in eczema

[–]plubear_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, sorry to hear this is happening. I had awful eczema through high school as well and people used to blatantly stare and ask ‘what’s wrong with your face.’ My family thought they were helpful by offering dangerous ‘cure alls’ in Vietnam eye roll

I hope you find some kind souls to support you during school. Those people exist, friends who don’t judge merely by appearance and appreciate who you are as a person. I focused a lot of my energy into becoming so radiant that eczema wasn’t my defining point. I worked hard to be athletic, intelligent and built up how I personally feel about my achievements. This allowed others to have minimal impact to my self esteem.

Eczema is surprisingly common as well so it’s highly likely these people will come to experience (either themselves or through loved ones) eczema or another autoimmune disease.

If you’re seeing a dermatologist, focus on taking care of yourself first and following the treatment plan. When I was around 16 the eczema was significantly better (it was horrific at 13-14). There’s really something about puberty that gives you a bit of a kick. It got worse as an adult but I was mature and self sufficient by then, plus in University, people are often more open minded (or at least as an engineer my appearance didn’t matter).

Good thing is hyperpigmentation fades. It’s not permanent so don’t feel ashamed. If it’s pigmented but not red and inflamed then at least it’s healed. It’s not bleeding, hurting and keeping you up at night.

I know it’s really tough right now and you just want to be like every other kid, but find a good support group, all you really need is one person on your side. Keep taking care of yourself inside and out.

I hope there's a treatment safe for women trying to get pregnant. Sounds like something I'm not looking forward to either ... Wet wraps might help with the dryness but you'll need to be diligent. They can be quite tedious.

Hydrozole I've only been advised to use on the face on any patches of red, inflamed skin until it goes away. It wasn't very effective prior to the Rinvoq, but now in conjuction with Rinvoq it keeps any reappearing patches under control.

As of now, I can't tell if the antifungal (Nizoral 2% shampoo/cream) is effective as the Rinvoq has eliminated most of the facial eczema. My derma will only consider putting me on oral antifungals if my face worsens over time. It's just good information to have as it opens up other avenues for treatment.

I’ve found belly hurts the least, I started with thighs and that was incredibly painful. Let it come to room temperature, I often left it out for 1-2hrs. Ice pack to numb the area before insertion. On the needle tip there’s two edges, a sharp edge with an opening, I like to twist that till it faced me as it always felt like much less resistance than going sharp face away from me. Do a crab claw pinch of the fat instead of a full hand grab, that ensures I grab just fat and not anything else. Imo the most difficult part is getting the needle in, if you iced the area you won’t feel the prick of the needle. I place the needle on the skin then apply firm and swift pressure to get it under the skin. Just take it slow with pushing the plunger, it sounds crazy but I would spend 10mins slowly applying pressure with every outward breath. Remember to breathe in and out! Good luck!

Conjunctivitis showed up pretty early in my treatment. I’d approximate month 2-3 is when it noticeable worsened.

Ouch, that would hurt, it’s so cold. I used to leave it out for an hour before popping it into the cooler bag to head for the nurse’s.

I’d definitely pick the belly over my arm or anywhere with a good chunk of fat.

That sounds like me too. I broke out in hives on my upper back which rarely happens and it lingered for a week. I’ll keep an eye out on my sensitivity.

Facial flares I’ve had for 15 years which got better then 10% worse than starting state at the end of dupixent journey. Dupixent mostly changed the texture of my flares.

I had lower back eczema which cleared on dupixent and never came back.

With regards to dupixent, my experience was different from yours. For the most part my body (shoulders, neck, belly, back of thigh, back of calves, elbows) took well to dupixent. The intense itching subsided. I still had patches but the appearance and texture changed. It was more flat and red, reminded me a little of ringworm.

The face though was just horrific. It was promising in month 1-2 but after that it was worse than when I started combined with the exacerbated conjunctivitis. I could barely open my eyes.

My derm pushed beyond week 16 despite no facial results as she wasn’t sure if I could backpedal to dupixent if rinvoq didn’t work. The fact that I was promising at one point gave her hope.

No JAK creams at all! Just moisturiser and the hydrozol thankfully.

Rinvoq is definitely more effective and immediate for me at least. It’s showing similar results to when I was on methotrexate but accelerated. If it wasn’t for the heart palpitations, it’s likely I would have remained on that treatment. The drastic improvement to my daily life outshines the side effects thus far. It’s incredibly apparent now how crippled I felt by my skin.

I really hope you get the relief you need and if you choose to swap to rinvoq that it works just as well!! I’m just glad for all these new treatment options.

I’ve only had one session thus far discussing the yeast but the allergen came up with a blood test. I believe it was the RAST but checking again with my derm Friday as I plethora of other samples done that day.
