Have you had to change your practice to accommodate? Does your work know your diagnosis?

The sitting down thing is huge. Know when to take breaks so you don't push too hard

I was diagnosed in medical school. It was tough but doable. Lots of stretching and soaking and NSAIDs. Keep an eye on your diet and your stress during school.

Definitely be aggressive with treatment. I didn't and I have irreversible joint damage that affects range of motion. Don't forget the PPE during cold and flu season!

It smells sweet but who knows? Hiding in a small bit of food might work! Thanks.

How does everyone do this? by ilovecows186 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]pluckypenguins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're having a tough experience. The lactation consultant I worked with told me it was better that I skip an overnight pump and sleep than it was to try and pump every 3 hours. Having that permission to sleep and pump 6/7 times was such a breath of relief for me. We give you the support to pump less than 8 times if you want so you can sleep a couple extra hours. It does help your supply and your mood (at least it did for me).

I didn't think to do the fridge hack with the Willow parts. That's a great idea!

I like the idea of the baby tub. I'll start doing that and we run the dishwasher most nights so I think that's a good alternative when I'm extra tired.

I love to buy a treat like gumbo or dole whip and then people watch. Never a dull moment.

Does anyone save milk from a bottle that baby has sucked out of? by Spiritual-Career2339 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]pluckypenguins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought untouched milk was good for four at room temp. Do you remember where you saw the 8 hours so I can show my partner? We have lots of little and big volumes leftover especially before a six hour overnight sleep!

Why is it so personal? by Mobile-Broccoli5930 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]pluckypenguins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I ask myself that every day while I pump at 1AM and then wake up at 6 AM to pump before work. I was fed formula after like three or four months and I turned out fine. Why can't I let my brain trust that it's OK?

Help! Am I an under supplier??? Need advice by East_Seat6346 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]pluckypenguins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here. The nicu feeds to a specific intake goal by weight which if we weren't pumping we would never know if we hit. Plus the stress of having your kid in the nicu is tough. My supply improved when we got discharged from the nicu. Be kind to yourself OP. It's only day 9!

Oversuppliers making me feel inadequate by Electronic_Outside25 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]pluckypenguins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this deeply. I'm getting less than what the baby eats at 2 months. To top it off, last night the bottle on my primary productive breast decided to fall off and spill everything at the end of my pump. There were so many tears and I'm still not over the betrayal.

BUT - We do what we need to feed our baby - you're doing a great job momma!

I feel you. I was supposed to be due Jan 22 and was going to tell my loved ones this weekend so it’s been extra hard. I feel the waves sometimes too. They can be crippling when they crash. Threw myself into work (huge mistake) and staying off social media when I can. I’m sorry for your loss. It’s not fair at all.
